Nice interview with Holmes' coach -- easy guy to root for.

OK. Because I thought he was very good in this tournament.

 

He was good in the Lewis/Fleming game that's the only game I got to see him do.

You may think an official is horrible but others think he is great, thats just the way it is, and most of the time it comes back to past experiences in other words if you lost the game they were terrible but if you won then they weren't so bad.

 

Having been around the game for nearly 40 years, I would hope that my objective opinion on an official would not be based on one game, or worse yet, one call.

 

You made that statement that Pouncy was the worst you have seen in 41 years, and as I stated, you are either blind, or don't get out much.

Also, if you are going to cry about officiating, don't forget the time where the ref next to the inbounder calls 5 secs and other ref blows whistle literally 1 sec later granting Cooper with a timeout after the call was made.

 

Again, I agree these refs were bad both ways but don't say it cost one team or the other the game.

 

Walter I have known you to be a die hard fan so I understand your denial of how the officiating went in the 4th quarter. Sitting by Cov Cath fans that were cheering for Holmes and were shocked and verbally acknowledging that the refs completely changed the game in the favor of Holmes. Afterwards talked with a couple of other people from other schools that had the same feeling. As for the blatant shoe grabbing no call, that was a cheap move and should have been called. But what can you do? Play on. I still take Cooper as the best defensive team in 9th, and a team with class win or lose with no excuses.

I make very few post on here, and we all have opinions, but is gets old , every game, the refs the refs, this was a huge game played by an outstanding group of young men on both sides and it was going to be sad to see either teem loose, but cant we just focus on the GAME, officiating is a thankless job and these guys from the 16th could care less who wins, to say the refs handed Holmes tha game is just crazy, great job by Coach Sullivan and congrats to both teams on an outstanding season.

 

Officiating is not a "Thankless Job"! I have a job and I don't always receive "Thank you's" They receive a paycheck, so they need to do the job right or stay at a level where they can!

Tuesday March 5th at 10:01 p.m. we are back to normal, I lost a bet and this was the winner's reward.

This is the fastest I've ever got through reading a 4 page thread (so far) on a great game. Every time I see the word "ref" in a post I filter and move on to the next post. In this thread it was like bam bam bam done. Nothing like making a great game seem dull with all the negative talk of the officiating. Hopefully by the time it gets to 8 pages it gets a little more interesting. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

 

You are correct. It was a great game, but the refs are part of the game. It is what it is! No poor sportsmanship, just BGP members stating their opinions.

By far this is the best post in this entire thread. Cooper players have won and lost with class which is what coach Sully preaches. In spite of the loss this was a great season, obviously the best ever for the newest school in NKY. I'm sure not many thought both the football team and the basketball teams would be this far this fast.

 

With a better than avg. core coming back they just might be able to make a run next year as well. Been fun watching this bunch of over-achievers play hard.

 

Best of luck to the 4 departing Srs 3 of which are football players as well.

The only reason this call is in dispute is because the Cooper kid tried to lobby the ref that this was an intentional foul. It wasn't. Please -- save the intentional foul calls for when someone is tackled going in for a layup. Heck, a lot of the refs don't even call those anymore.

Cmon Man! Player gets a steal, makes the move for a breakaway and a player "INTENTIONALLY" grabs his ankle to prevent him from advancing. This is an intentional flagrant foul. Had the player fallen and been injured, would you still not call it? It is what is!

There is no lobbying for something as obvious as that flag aren't intentional foul. To think anything different than an intentional foul on that play tells us you don't know the rules, simple as that

AGREE 100%, no other team in NKY comes close to them. In 30 games the opposition averaged only 44.9 pts. a game. :notworthy:
