Holmes 55 Newport Central Catholic 50 9th Region

Featured Replies

Holmes is clearly the best team up here. New Cath was way way overated. Better team won. Holmes came out of the toughest district in the state. Holmes, Holy Cross and Cov Cath were all better than New Cath. Had they won tonight Cooper would have beaten them, Cov Cath would have beaten them AGAIN. Decent team but about the 5th best in the region.

Hmm...1-1 against Holmes in 2 tight games, 2-0 against Holy Cross, and 0-1 against CovCath where their backup center hits maybe his only 3 of the year to win. They won the All A tournament and just finished 30-3. If that is overrated, then give me some of that

NCC returns a lot. I know they rarely ever win the region, but they will be good.

That he was. Sounds like the young mister Bolden made it worth the trip...

Tough first half, really strong 2nd half.

Tough first half, really strong 2nd half.

Guessing he picked up just as much if not more scouting the tough part...

Key for NC was no points from Drew McDonald in the 4th after he dominated the 3rd qtr. Credit Holmes for some of that.

I take back whatever I said about Drew's post game. He showed me a left hand tonight that I had never seen. If he gets that going you can't stop him in the post.

I told Schulte after the game he can be a dominant 9th region player next year. It's up to him. He has everything you're looking for.

Add in Weyer and no team in the 9th will have a frontcourt to compete with those 3.

You kind of lost any rational thought as you went along. Didn't NCC beat Holy Cross a couple of times? And beat Holmes at Holmes? And beat Cooper at Cooper?

Holmes was the better team tonight but you should have left it at that.

They beat Holmes at NCC

I made a bet with JMU31 and lost, my new avatar and location will remain for a week.

Congrats to the Dawgs on playing a better game than the Breds, good luck in the semi's. Bolden with another "awesome" game, as well as, Drew McDonald. Breds just could not knock down the outside shots and got out-played on the glass. Still baffled why the Breds didn't go inside more often? The charge calls on Schulte were "big", not only does he pick-up two fouls but you take 4 pts. off the board.

All in all, the Dawgs were the better team tonight and put an end to a very nice NewCath season.

Wow!!

Not that you had much credibility to start with, however you know zero about basketball.QUOTE]

CCH, Holmes and Cooper are all better than NCC. Hang in there, the sun will come up tomorrow. Hey, we might be able to say New Cath is the best Class A team up here. I still think Bishop Brossart is better.

Key points:

NCC made it through the first half with 2 starters sitting with two fouls and actually had the lead 19-18.

.

Same can be said for Holmes - Bolden and Coston both had 2 in the first half.

They beat Holmes at NCC

Ncc beat Holmes at Holmes. The real basketball fans were there.

Wow!!

Lets just write this off to you missing your medication...........

Get a good nights rest. It'll be ok. Hang in there.

THANK YOU, Nick Seibert, Michael Bueter, Colin Dupont, Brennen Devoto, & Jake Haas from giving all NewCath fans as well as many others 4 great years of memorable hoops action. You all had a "great" 4 year run and your efforts will not be forgotten.

Really different from the 1st time. NCC just didn't shoot well. The only thing they had that worked consistently was McDonald. Holmes won this game on the boards. They rebounded much better this time. Both teams had 2 players sit in the first half. Beuter and Coston sat more than 10 minutes and Schulte and Bolden for about 5. Holmes got respectable miutes from Marcus Hill, which they hadn't all year. Englemon cam to play. This game turned early in the 3rd when Holmes went on a mini- 8 point run. NCC cut it to 2 or 4 I can't remember, but just could not make key shots. Neither team shot very well, but both defenses played by both were strong. Holmes shot awful from the line, probably 50% at best. They usually shoot from the line better than that. Good win against a really good team. These teams play 10 times they probably split. I thought the trap in the 4th by NCC really allowed Coston to get free and allowed the offensive rebounds. Two or three times Holmes missed, got the board and used precious minutes in the 4th. Hard to lose this early when you are as good as these two, but you gotta beat them anyway. Congrats on a good season for NCC, athough I am sure they don't feel that way right now.

Get a good nights rest. It'll be ok. Hang in there.

Were you even at the game?

Great win for the Bulldogs, now to win against Cooper Sat and Newport Sunday. I predict an upset over Cov Cath.
