Very good pizza and the owner is a outstanding gentlemen!

 

CovCath sells their pizza at all their home Basketball games and a slice or two usually tides me over until I get home to eat dinner after doing stats for the Frosh, JV and Varsity games. Honestly never had a bad slice, be it a cheese or peperoni slice!

 

It's also the pizza that all the Freshmen teams get to eat after their games during the Frosh Tourney.

 

Now it's not Dewey's or Strong's but a very good local pizza place and it's better IMHO than the national big name pizza places.

 

 

Randy, that actually, if it's where i think you were at, used to be a Pasquales, but it changed hands. and wasn't nearly the quality of the maysville legendary pasquales.

It was indeed LUIGI'S. It was located right about where the tool rental place is. They had wonderful Italian dinners in addition to the pizza. It was owned and operated by the Zecella family. In those days 27 was a two lane road.

This is a little off topic, but you reminded me of a question I've wondered about for a long time. When I was little (we're talking circa 1970 or so) there was a pizza place out on Alexandria Pike in either Alexandria or maybe Cold Spring. I can't remember the name of it -- all I can remember is the heavenly smell of their pizza! It was like no other, and all I remember is that it was sooo good.

 

For some reason, the name "Luigi's" sticks in my mind, but I don't know if that's it or not. I think it was a white building on the northbound side of the road. Do any of you old timers remember the place and possibly tell me more about it? Or maybe it's just a false childhood memory.

 

But I can still smell that pizza right now.

 

I still think there's no pizza aroma that even compares to the smell of LaRosa's as you walk down International Street at King's Island.

 

As a kid, we used to go once a year when my dad got his free "Dividend Day" tickets as a Proctor & Gamble employee. We'd go on Friday evening, and my brothers and I would always beg for the pizza, but have to settle for the sandwiches my parents had packed along with them for the evening. Actually there are three distinct smells I associate with Kings Island: LaRosa's pizza, sauerkraut from the German Festhaus (my mom insisted on going to one of their shows every year), and the smell of the two fresh, hot, funnel cakes we always bought just before we left the park at the end of the night.

That is a great memory. The only time we ever got to go to Kings Island was on dividend day. Lucky to ge that slice of pizza. The sounds and lights of the place as you walked that last trip past the fountain towards the parking lot.

I had a Bleu Cheese Ribeye sandwich that was pretty good. Cold Spring Ale is pretty tasty also.
