In all honesty, the high school game needs to follow suit with the NCAA and NBA and put the semi-circle block/charge line in the lane.

I hate, hate, hate all the flopping that takes place anymore. A 6'5" 250lb kid gets bumped by a small guard driving to the basket, they flop and it a foul. That same big kid, the very next play, gets the ball down on the block and pounds, and pounds against his defender until he shoves him back far enough that he can get a bunny shot. Why if a defender stands flat footed defending, hands up and the big kid just bangs against him to back him up. Why is that not a foul.

I think it's time for a shot clock.

Because sometimes there's an OJ Mayo out there. I see no harm whatsoever letting a middle-schooler who is ready play up.

 

Braxton Beverly was outstanding in the state tourney as a 7th grader. Mayo as a middle-schooler as well.

 

Why are we still doing a post game 'good job' between both teams? No one is ever sincere. It isn't 3rd grade soccer (no offense to soccer..lol).

Blatant flopping is a technical foul. If more refs called it that way, you'd begin to see less flopping.

Explain how that is not one more thing for officials to look at/worry about? The whole semi-circle thing is for secondary defenders. I would guess there are officials out there that don't even know what a secondary defense is!

It would make it harder. One more thing to have to catch at the last second while you're determining if the defender has legal guarding position while you're determining where the contact occurred on the defender's body since not all contact is a foul.

What about having kids go to school where the live? Call it the PCC/SC rule. No transfers to play for your favorite coach. While I'm at it, no transfer to play with your AAU buddies either (the DH rule). Or the multiple schools rule- DH to Ludlow to HC rule.....or the From Cincy to KY, back to Cincy and back to KY rule.

Not one official I know away from this site says they'd rather they didn't have the semi-circle. Takes the guess work out of it. Feet in it's a block. Feet out it's a charge. Simple. Makes the game safer on kids. Nothing more dangerous in my opinion when a kid is in the air, the ball has left his hand, and there's a kid set up taking a hit right under the goal. No chance you can convince me it's not a good idea and would make the game safer. How hard could it be to see if the defender has his feet outside the circle when determining if his position is set? Not too difficult, seems easy enough at the next level. If it's that difficult, how then can we determine if a shot is a 2 or 3 when close to the arc?

IMO the location of the block/charge is irrelevant. The rule is the same. The requirements are clear. Now it's just a matter of judgement. A circle would bail out an official but it wouldn't make him/her any better.

Slapping the backboard on an attempt to block a shot. Currently it is either nothing or a tech. I would like to see goaltending/basket interference as an option when you miss the block but shake the basket. (Same as grabbing the net)

Not my point at all. Position under the basket by a defender making the play a charge with no place for the offensive player to land should be eliminated. No way that doesn't eliminate that play over time with a semi-circle. No judgement there at all is there? Sure you can charge within the circle, not my point.
