One of the Montgomery County fans, perhaps a mother of a player posted on her FB that a CCH coach had their player by the "throat". Fans will see what they want to see or at least think they see what they want to see. Obviously this didn't happen. Stick with the facts and not hearsay. Crowds and their reactions never cease to amaze me. Being 20 feet from the action, all coaches from both sides, did their best to separate players and end the altercation as quickly as possible.

I agree both went to the ground. Both tackled each other, but Wallace did not throw a punch and Fredrick did! I'm not sure what the book says on ejections? But I know for a fact that Fredrick was the only one out of those two that threw a punch.

Officials meet with the captains and coaches of both teams before games and that subject is supposed to discussed.

 

You want the players to be able to play with some emotion but if it's truly just trash talking then that doesn't belong in the game. If Ruthsatz was indeed the one doing the trash talking it sounds like Fredrick was in that situation of having to cash the check someone else had written.

I have no dog in this fight but here's what I saw from a neutral perspective.

 

Wallace did the off the ball pushing to get it started but it only turned into a fight because of Frederick. He grabbed Wallace around the neck and pulled him tight. Then it looked like they both tried to get loose but neither was strong enough to break free of the other so they entangled and ended up going to the ground and the scrum ensued.

 

I, too, think it went on longer enough before the scrum that the officials should have stopped it immediately, gave both technicals and moved on with the game.

 

The CovCath assistant was over the top all night and I think the one official had just had enough of him. I, as a spectator, was worn out by him. And why he would yell at Scott County officials because they had no jurisdiction or had anything to do with that individual game.

 

I was disappointed Happy walked to the officials dressing room instead of participating in his team's trophy presentation. I left shortly after so don't know when he reappeared. And on my way out, I walked past Frederick's dad who was visibly upset but at that time not talking to anyone.

How can you be worn out all night by an assistant coach who has been T'd up and has to sit on the bench and not speak? That has to be an over exaggeration. Prior to the T I agree but that came very early in the game.

From the way it was described by the announcers, it wasn't isolated to one team or to just a couple of players. I'm of the belief that players can play with emotion without running their mouths to opponents. Off the top of my head, I would have the following.

 

1) Zero verbal communication between opposing players during the game.

2) First offense (per player) a warning recorded in the book.

3) Every infraction after that becomes a personal foul.

 

That way the yappers can enjoy the game from the bench.

Its always funny how people watch the same thing and see things differently.

I watched from the inbounds on the sideline for CCH in that series until the scrum was broke up. I have no allegiance to either team. Looked like the MC player instigated the mess, the CCH player pushed away to the head/neck, then the MC player went overboard and tackled the CCH player, then the CCH player throws a punch. Pushing and shoving goes on all the time, a foul should of been called on the MC player on the first 2 bumps and it wouldn't of gone this far.

1st, why does he think he could do this? And 2nd, what did the ref's have to say about this?

I think the person who's getting a pass in all of this up until now is Head Coach Happy Osborne. Actually never heard of the guy until last night. Coach B for CovCath gets thrown out for saying you've lost control of this game. Osborne instigated most of the fan reaction buy his berating of the refs after the fight, his kneeling by and pounding of the scorer's table with his fist. And the worst of all I thought, taking the time during a time out to come all the way over to the CovCath huddle to "so called" talk to his player who was slowly coming to his huddle. I've never seen a coach get this long of a rope. I guess he must be some kind of legend or something.

Happy is definitely an interesting character, seemed to have an entourage surrounding him. He is clearly large and in charge and has a really nice team to display his own talents. I suspect he will have a short lived career at MC and move back to college ball sometime soon.

Babyjack, when you're the instigator of the incident and you then get punched I have no sympathy for you.

 

I would have thrown a punch as well had it been me.

 

All 3 will most likely sit for 2 games.
