I wasn't there but it's my understanding that the CCH assistant may have said something to an official and that's what got him tossed.

 

That is my understanding also and the video, although you can't hear what was said, supports that. At 1:31:49 on the video the CCH assistant walks to the upper left hand corner of the screen and says something. You see both Montgomery County assistants point and the referee steps to the scorers table. And then later on, the video announcers state that the referee says "You don't need to ask".

 

I would like to know exactly what set these two off. I have watched several parts of the game and I just do not see anything. I know a little bit earlier, Wallace did get hit in his broken nose, but I do not think that was Fredrick. The only two that probably know exactly are Wallace and Fredrick.

If things were cleaned up by the refs as far as physical play is concerned, things like this are not going to happen. The commish was supposed to get the level of physical play reduced this year. Just like any other rule they emphasize, after a couple of weeks back to the old way.

It is less frequent than it used to be. I've seen some hellaciuos altercations through the years.

 

I think the officials let this get too chippy. This built up through the entire game and then exploded in the 4th.

Just a couple of observations from a total outsider.

I read this entire thread and a few things jumped off the screen...

 

1) Anybody that has a first name of Happy has got to have friends in all places...

2) There might have been other adults/ coaches/refs on the floor trying to deter the incident further, but all I saw was the real adult and man on the floor restraining the CovCath kid and the rest of the pretty boys hoping they would'nt get a paycheck docked for getting tossed. I give Baci credit for gettin down and dirty and lookin out for safety first and consequences second.

3) Three refs watching the ball has become common place imo. Hey, when a good game is happening everybody wants to stand around and watch the easy stuff...

After you watch the game let us know if you were Prewitt and being pushed throughout the game unnecessarily and blatantly while 40 feet from the rim... would you have thrown a punch if you were him?

 

Teams seem to be physical with Prewitt. Would you have thrown a punch if you were him? And get ejected? What do you think will happen when he gets to the next level?

All three refs got involved in trying to separate the scuffle and no one stood back to observe the none participants (proper protocol wasn't followed). There should have been other ejections and technicals (at least two Cov Cath players left the bench area and walked onto the floor and at least one MC player did the same). I wonder if the KHSAA is going to review the video and impose some other sanctions?

 

What if a referee is "observing non participants" and a kid gets belted while the other two are in the scrum? Protocol is to break up the participants and go from there. How about a little common sense?

It has been the scouting report on him for years. It has been good to see him play through a lot of that this year.

It is my understanding that physical play off the ball was supposed to be some kind of point of emphasis this year.

 

My point was that I was proud of O for not retaliating AND for continuing to let his play speak for itself.

I think that was the book on Derek Willis last year. I imagine he's toughened up some this year as he's gotten older.
