February 7, 201313 yr Question for our swimmers. Do you lift before/after swimming or not at all with your swimming workout?
February 7, 201313 yr I woke up and played basketball at 6am at the YMCA. I stink. They have some kind of league that early?
February 7, 201313 yr Question for our swimmers. Do you lift before/after swimming or not at all with your swimming workout? I generally swim at 5:30 am and it's on the days I don't lift. Today I didn't get up in time and I'm about to go. Just finished up a run. I often bike or run on my swim days but haven't ever lifted. Since its pretty draining I'd probably try to avoid it if I could.

I was going to lift but was pretty beat after my swim. I'll do cardio next time.
February 7, 201313 yr Ha I didn't get out of bed this morning. For some reason I'm still sore in my legs from my workout on Sunday. I later realized I had lifted the past 5 days so figure maybe I just need to give myself a day of rest today. Back at it tomorrow and may start the juggernaut workout that JCVD e-mailed me yesterday. If you're really serious about it I can shoot you something that will chart your reps, calculate percentages and tell you how much to move up on the main lifts.
February 7, 201313 yr Author Sore today...but still motivated! Worked out twice yesterday like my Idols-----Woods, Mex, Former, and Bugatti. I'll get a workout in later today. JUST DO IT!
February 7, 201313 yr If you're really serious about it I can shoot you something that will chart your reps, calculate percentages and tell you how much to move up on the main lifts. When you said it was in a PDF file I didn't realize it was going to be 120 pages!!! Going to have to take some time to read over it this weekend and map it all out in my head. I had to take a couple days of for running because my body just wasn't recouping properly. As of yesterday my legs were still sore from stuff I did on Sunday so I took yesterday off from everything and it was probably a great move. I woke up this morning before my alarm clock, birds chirping and the sunishining, I was ready to roll. Got to the gym and busted out some chest/back and then just as I was getting ready to step on the treadmill AC/DC Thunderstruck came on my iPhone and it was ON!! I did week 4 day 1 of C25K and it went well it's two sets of 3 minutes running and 5 minutes running. I got to the 4th interval which is the second 5 minute run and I was feeling pretty taxed I started that whole thought process of I at least need to make it to 3 minutes, then it was just another .10 miles then that little C25K voice came over my headphones that I had 1 minute left, but then I was cramping in my back and felt like I was just trying to survive. I gutted it out and then wanted to fall over but I'm feeling pretty good about it all right now.
February 7, 201313 yr Squat 5/3/1 EDT (Straight Leg Deadlift/Hanging leg raise) 100 calf raises Get home

There is some stuff in there, specifically at the end, that you don't really need to know to execute the program effectively. It's more sports (football) driven. That can cut out a good chunk of the reading.
February 8, 201313 yr Author Just did Day 1 of 30 Day Shred. Just did Day 30! It's been awesome. Tomorrow I will start over at Level I and alternate the 3 levels each day--but adding heavier weights. Also going to get in more running days. Not bad considering I celebrate my first annual 49th next week!

February 8, 201313 yr JCVD's workout info he e-mailed me and FKYW's posts about box jumps got me doing them today. I didn't go quite as high as FKYW's 36" I just did 24" but I did 3 sets of 10 including one set with a 25 lb weight in my hand. We used to do those back in the day for football but I don't remember them wearing me out quite like that, then again we used to only jump like 4 boxes then go to the back of the line.

I couldn't remember the exact number, all I know is just be glad they had done away with those old wooden ones by the time you guys were doing them. I can't tell you how many lineman I saw with their shins split wide open, those youngins just don't know how good they've got it these days.
