Bobby Petrino to Western Kentucky

Featured Replies

Petrino's first game will be against Mark Stoops and UK. That is going to be a fun one.

Yeah, it'll be a tragedy when a bunch of kids excited to play for a certified football genius with an explosive offensive mindset commit to Western.

What will be really sad is when those players play in some memorable games and possibly score an upset or two.

UK plays WKU again this year in Nashville, right?

Will it be a tragedy when he leaves those same kids in 2 years for greener pastures?

I believe they play Tennessee right after that too...Fun first two weeks.

Part of the game. What about the kids who committed thinking Taggart would still be around? It's just how college football works.

This.

I pick WKU over USF next year. Say what you want about Petrino and his character, but the man can coach. WKU got an upgrade in the Head Coach department. Hopefully Bobby P can keep his nose clean.

I can agree with WKU being better than USF next year. Bobby is taking over a team built on a solid foundation by Taggart. Coach T is trying to right a listing ship.

As to the upgrade, we may find out in 2014, as USF has to schedule a home and home with Western soon as part of Taggarts buy out.

Nope.

By the way, Damarcus Smith will be eligible next fall. The kid messed up listening to the wrong people, but he's a legit QB in my opinion.

It will be an entirely different offense, won't it? Taggart relied more on the power game (like Stanford) wheras Petrino opens it up. Smith very well could be a step in the right direction, however. He had a tremendous arm at Seneca.

BREAKING: Minutes after being hired at Western Kentucky, Bobby Petrino has resigned, says the memories he had at WKU "will last a lifetime."

Love the hire. LOVE! People that think this is a bad move are only wishing UK would have had the guts to hire him.

Big congrats to WKU. So what if he leaves in two years, the program will just keep on getting better by the year with a guy like him running the show.

WKU just beat UK and UT next September.

Dang right they did! I love just how this is literally scaring the crap out of the UK homers.

Such as???

Petrino's system is difficult to classify because it's not concrete. He runs what suits his players, so it's more of a mindset. At Louisville, the watchword was "FTS: Feed The Studs." He wants to get the ball in the playmakers' hands in a situation that allows them to score.

WKU takes over sole posession of #2 program in the state. Cat fans throw as many darts as you like but he does not have any wins taken off the books or banners yanked down.
