Bobby Petrino to Western Kentucky

Featured Replies

I bet you and most UK fans would take the last 10 years, wouldn't you?

As a matter of fact, I dont know a UK fan out there that wouldn't take:

Coach 1

9-4 Bowl

11-1 Bowl

9-3 Bowl

12-1 BCS BOWL WIN

Followed by....Coach 2

6-6 No Bowl

5-7 No Bowl

4-8 No Bowl

Followed by...Coach 3

7-6 Bowl Win

7-6 Bowl

10-2 BCS Bowl

Tell me a UK fan in their right mind that wouldn't be jumping out of their shoes for ten years of that?

How's Arkansas looking? How did UofL do right after Petrino? How about the Falcons when he bolted?

In reality, these should all be included in his record. This is what you get with him, a lot of good followed by a big mess to clean up.

Really? Should the Dolphins 1-15 campaign be counted on Saban's record? After all, it's how they finished the year after he left for Alabama. I dont know anybody (especially Cat fans) who would object to him coaching your team.

Probably not fair to include the NFL, but college for sure. I keep hearing how the WKU program will be better off when he does decide to bolt, what would make anyone think that? Louisville and Arkansas both became a mess when he left.

Who are you talking to?

Who are you talking to?

Any and all UK fans (or anybody for that fact) that thinks WKU hiring Petrino was bad for their program.

Louisville became a mess simply because they didnt make the right hire afterwards.

Arkansas became a mess because it was mid spring and no big name coach out there is going to take a major college job in mid spring, let alone one in the SEC. That wasn nothing, but bad timing.

Arkansas was a mess this year, hide and watch what happens with Bilema. Will they be in the top 3-4 out of the west next year? No, but considering the SEC has 6 teams alone in the Top 10, 5th or 6th next year in the West would be a pretty good spot.

Who are you talking to?

I know, right....

I know, right....

It was a serious question. He said "you" but didn't quote anyone.

So, if UK goes 2-10 or worse, this year will be on Joker....right?

They became a mess because Petrino allowed the inmates to run the asylum and Kragthorpe had to come in and pretty much clean house.

To a certain extent, yes absolutely.

If that's all you all (MustangCatFAN and JVDFC) have, then some sort of point has been proven.

It's kind of cute how you all have each others back and what not.

Any of you ever been to a rap concert? I have, once. Terrible mistake. Anyway, one guy does the rapping, then there are a couple other of his cronies out on stage, repeating the chorus or things like, "Yeah", "What"....one liner type things. That's kind of what you all have going on. Cute. Really is.

They became a mess because Petrino allowed the inmates to run the asylum and Kragthorpe had to come in and pretty much clean house.

About right.....

They became a mess because Petrino allowed the inmates to run the asylum and Kragthorpe had to come in and pretty much clean house.

That's just not true.

Petrino was able to control players that Kragthorpe wasn't, because (and you might have confused me for someone who thinks Petrino came down from on high so this should help clear my stance up) he is a tyrannical, obsessive, venomous, angry and frightening human being. Kragthorpe, to put it mildly, is not.

Petrino recruited guys that could play for him but not for Kragthorpe. In some ways, that's not much different from coaches having strategic differences over personnel-- I don't think Hal Mumme could do well with players recruited by, say, Jim Tressel.

In this case, the difference is more akin to the difference between Tony Dungy and the coach from Varisty Blues, if that movie were produced by HBO instead of MTV.
