Whitlock writes one solid article a year. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them.

 

People who commit crimes are going to do so regardless of the availability of a "tool". Maybe he drives her off a cliff. Maybe he wrecks into an innocent drive while doing so. Maybe he uses a knife, baseball bat...etc. The guy had an issue, after that it is ALL on him.

I was very surprised when I saw this last night and tweeted about it. I don't feel like they should be taking any stance.

When Costas cited Jason Whitlock's words as a voice of reason, he lost all credibility with his rant.

He went from asking if was appropriate to hold the game - a reasonable question. Then went into a full attack on basic Constitutional rights - no so reasonable IMHO.

 

A terrible tragedy for sure. But to blame it all on a piece of machinery so quickly and so specifically discounts the tragedy at hand.

With guns

people kill people with a lot of things, including just their hands. But, if you're of that mindset, then surely you think this way as well:

I don't think the discussion of the issue is out of line considering it happened in the NFL. It's topical and fair for discussion by a talking head.

 

I do think some would be holding Bob up as a spokesperson had he taken the view that reactionary comments about gun control are ill-conceived and out of line.

Jason Whitlock conveniently ignores the countless people that have protected their homes, loved ones and their own lives by possessing a gun. But then, he has to since it doesn't fit his little uninformed agenda.
