Clyde, I'm no Miss Cleo, but have to believe if he wanted to kill her he could have strangled her, stabbed her, snapped her neck,,,,you get my point. To assume he felt more comfortable to kill her because he had a gun is a stretch every bit as much as assuming if he didn't have a gun she'd still be alive, Costas' comment not withstanding.

See, that's the issue. This whole deal leaves us with no answers. Was it roid rage? Some other chemical deal? No one knows. No witnesses I'm aware of. So, I was doing the old Clyde trick and inferring what you meant without you saying so. I'm not sure if there was a premeditation, I don't know without some more evidence coming to light that we will ever know. Again, I still think that Costas was out of line. I don't think that there will be an way I'll feel differently. And I'm sure that my stance, along with some others in this thread, may seem callous to the incident, but that's not the case at all, for me at least. I hate what happened, but like RTS said earlier, where's all of the attention when guns have saved lives? Where is the media there? Where is the quid pro quo? There isn't any because that doesn't drive ratings. But because this was such a strange and awful ordeal and it happened to someone who plays in the most popular and televised sport in our country, Costas got the soapbox.

 

I wonder if Costas owns a gun? I wonder if someone breaks into Costas house if he would just resort to grabbing one of his awards off the mantle to defend his family?

This country has a gun problem in regards to gun violence. The debate is around and should be around how to minimize it without violating the rights of the innocent.

 

As with almost all controversial topics I find too many people (on both sides of the argument) who simply want to stick their head in the sand and are not able to continuously evaluate where we are as a society.

He didn't drive anywhere. The murder happened at his home. The murder was preceded by an arguement with his girlfriend after she arrived home at 1 a.m. after attending a concert with her friends. Whether this escalated to the murder 5 or 6 hours later, I don't know.

So...a butcher knife wouldn't have made it easier if there was no gun in the house? I bet there are more butcher knives in homes than guns. Time to ban them....

Why would NBC even allow him to make the rant? Make a small statement about the event fine but not what he did.

 

Liberals want to take away guns and NBC is part of the grand Liberal Media, only promotes their agenda.

We disagree on it being the place. No biggie.

 

I don't see how anyone can say with certainty the young lady was going to die if a gun wasn't around. That takes a lot of assumption and clairvoyance. Unless he told someone he was going to the house to kill his girlfriend then there is no way we can draw any conclusions with any reasonable amount of certainty.

Not saying that he said this at all, but it was reported that he had asked his mother to come take care of the child because he was having problems with girlfriend. This could be a clue that he had already decided to take her life and that's why he wanted his mother there to take care of his child. We can only guess.
