I am assuming everyone knows there are good stats over at KHSAA...both game by game and season total.

 

The Knights are in a spread far more than a double tight end formation. The only real consistency to the offense is that it is inconsistent in its play calling. Ground and pound is not the main game but if it is working in one series they will run for an entire series and then come out throwing the next and not do a run play for a number of downs. There are 3 backs used that have different strengths - speed (junior Logan), power/fullback (junior Mitchell) and a combination of speed and juke (senior Kumengisa). They can all be fun to watchif they get some room to operate. Kumengisa has come on strong since the first Boyle game and when he gets 'out in space' he can look a lot like former Knight Greg Raglin with his moves.

I see Lex Cath shocking the lifeless 1st half Birds 21-7. How the Birds respond in the second half is another story. With so much emotion expended last week, they'll come out too laxed and have to be shocked back to reality.

How is the game that Lexington Catholic played against Boyle County any different than the one Highlands played against Covington Catholic? They both were hard fought, emotional games. Sometimes I wonder where you come up with these theories. I can't imagine Highlands coming out lifeless. They have been in this situation enough to know how to handle it.

Has anyone seen the Lex Cath game time? Traveling this Friday and need to do some long-term planning. FTIS site still has TBA.

It seems like 7:00 is a common kickoff time in northern Kentucky, while everything around Lexington and south is always 7:30. Is it because the schools are so close to each other very little travel time is necessary? I like the idea of starting at 7.

If Highlands is down 21-7 at the half they will lose. LexCath is a second half team.

Are you sure they would lose?.....Really sure.....two scores at home with this team.....I would still like the birds chances....you seen first hand what happened to Boyle first game of the year. Dont think they will be down two scores but if they were i wouldnt panic.

For me...whether I panic or not would be dependent on how the game was going. If HHS was down because they couldn't move the ball in the first half and were actually lucky to score their 7, I'd be really nervous. However, HHS is also a second half team and I've seen them turn it up a level in the 3rd qtr on many occasions. So if they were actually moving the ball at all in the first half and just couldn't convert (for whatever reason), I would also be confident in the second half.

 

Seems like both teams have kids that only play on one side of the ball...wonder why they are both second half teams????

 

I typically don't make predictions on scores, but I do think the birds control the game and win by a couple TD's. Dale tends to play a little tighter in bigs games...meaning that he pulls the reigns back a little and keep the kids from making mistakes. That also keeps them from blowing teams out sometimes, but I think he'll take the W anyway he can get it. Lex Cath is a good team and I think it's a survive and move on week again!

Agree.....both games against Cov-Cath this year CCH scored first and HHS did not panic and they were fine...i see a similiar game with Lex Cath with the outcome being a two score win for Highlands. Although i think Lex Cath will give Highlands all they want.

At the very least, they're much more of a balanced threat than Covington Catholic. Bir gets the edge in passing, but Lex. Cath has a stable of horses in the backfield that will give Highlands fits...
