LexCath has a bad habit of starting slow and not playing their best until the second half. I've seen it firsthand 3 different times this year. They better figure it out real quick or this game will be over by halftime.

Throw it high and long and let the speedy wide receivers make a play. Stretch the defense. What Highlands QB didn't throw that ball?

How do LC fans like BGC see the young LC QB faring against a fast and active HHS D?

I doubt seriously that the Birds get shut out by Lex Cath this year. In fact, since gambling is against BGP rules, I'll just say, I'm not worried about losing my farm. Highlands put up 24 against Elder this year and Lex Cath is not Elder. Go Birds!!

Recall that 2 KO return TDs by Seidl were huge in the game there last year.

 

Expect a well-coached, disciplined, deep (no 2-way starters apparently) and balanced (run v. pass) team to show up at DCM on FRI night. Knights will have to overcome their usual sluggish starts and Birds will have to protect the ball like they did against CovCath (as opposed to early turnovers against Ryle & Ashland). Possession efficiency will be key.

 

With respect to "let downs" or "trap" games, they are always possible. However, you don't typically find them in a state semi-final game where, regardless of result, this group of Seniors KNOWS this will be their last game EVER at DCM. Lots of these kids have been playing at least 1 or 2 games on this field since they were in 3rd grade. I think they will be ready to play. Looking forward to it.

Good point. They've been throwin' em' since I've been watching the past 8 yrs. Problem is when McCoy's eyes roll back in his head and he just launches one into double coverage. Not good odds this deep into the game.

PP -- you follow them much more closely, but I was surprised to see the stats in the LexCath v. Boyle thread showing LexCath rushed 40x for 155 yds and only threw 25x for 238 yds. Were the stats skewed by 4th Qtr rushes by LexCath trying to run clock while ahead? What has their season run / pass split been?

Has anyone seen the Lex Cath game time? Traveling this Friday and need to do some long-term planning. FTIS site still has TBA.

It sure didn't seem like they ran the ball 40 times. Just going off of memory I'd guess the QB ran more the RBs. They still pass to set up the run. Their first two touchdowns were set up by perfectly thrown long bombs where the kid was tackled before he scored and then they ran it in from the two. They aren't running in the sense of it being a balanced attack. And also, they had some very short possessions in the first half and scored quickly and efficiently in the second half so that may skew the stats also. They are very much a pass first team.
