Who are the best players in the 6th & 7th grade for the boys?

I haven't seen nearly as many 7th grade games as I have 6th- in fact, I'd like to know the names of the 7th grade Conner guards - I didn't see them play this year - but I would start with a few kids I have seen multiple times that impressed me. I'd be interested in hearing other opinions.....

 

7th - Perrin (Woodland), Pangallo (Holy Trinity), Miller (Woodland)

 

6th - Rankin (Gray), Turner (Holmes), Sergent (Twenhofel), Jolly (Campbell County), Coldiron (IHM), Thelen (St. Pius)

Just out of curiousity, do all Conner 6th graders play, i.e., do they have any 6th graders that play up and did not play for the 6th grade team? Reason being that Highlands, which only lost to Conner this year, does have a sixth grader that plays up freshman and JV for Highlands. Might be a more interesting match up in years to come when she enters the picture.

 

Zoey Barth is playing up on the Frosh for Highlands. I heard she had a triple double the other day and would definitely make the HMS 6th grade girls a definite major player.

 

I also understand that there are Middle School administrators that are pitching to disallow Middle school students the ability to play up on HS teams. Anyone hear about this?

Probably shouldnt leave out Brandon Finn #25 for Highlands. He led the Birds all season and had a great AAU state tourney last year for Gametime as a 5th grader. Looking forward to this AAU season.

7th Grade Players: Tanner Craddock (PG Conner), Adam Kunkel (SG Conner), Tall red-head center for Ockerman (don't know his name), guard for Ockerman, Center for St Pius (Maher?), Maile from Turkeyfoot, Center for Woodland, Holmes has a taller guard who is really, really good, Day kid (guard) from Campbell County and there are more, but these are the players who come to mind for me.

I would add Grays other big guy to the list for the 6th grade. I believe his first name is Brandon or Brayden...maybe someone can correct me. He is not only tall and athletic but very strong. Has very good fundamentals.

Yes, Brayden and he is a load. Strong kid who has grown a lot in the past year.

Anyone hear about this?[/quote I have heard that, and don't think it's possible. I don't think highlands could assemble enough frosh girls for basketball or softball. I understand the motivation, I just don't think it's possible. I also don't agree with it in principle

Ockermans 7th grade boys have several really good players. Tall red head that you ppointed out, Tyler Ollier (guard) along with Zach McNiel's younger brother who may be even better than Zach when he hits high school.

 

A little tid-bit about Ollier, he was state champion and runner up in back to back years for national free throw compeitition. just something kind of cool for the little guy.

Conner middle does not believe as most boone county middle schools do not on moving girls up. Conner middle has 2 6th grade girls who could no doubt play at the 8th grade level! Hurst and Jordan i believe are their names. Two super quick guards! Only saw them play twice but walked away impressed.

It's not a belief it's a boone county rule that does not allow it.

Why? And until when? Can an eighth grader play up to freshman? I think players should play to their level, and exceptional talents should play up to the competition level that challenges them. If a sixth grader is going to score 30 points a game, or only play the first quarter because the competition is so far beneath him or her, why would you not have that kid playing up to a level that challenges them? I just don't get that line of thinking.
