At about 510 the games were canceled for tonight. Just about everyone was already there or almost there. Who are the clowns that are making these decisions?

 

I don't know who is making the decisions but i think this is a silly statement to make. Boone County School board made a decision to cancel all activities in Boone County around 4:45 this afternoon when the storm hit and dumped some nasty stuff quickly that caused icy conditions. This took half the teams out of playing tonight anyway. This storm was suppose to be north of us so no one knew it would hit like it did. They cannot control the weather. I think they made the right decision for everyone's safety.

Word is that the games tomorrow will go on as planned and today's games will be played Wednesday. This would move the semifinals to Thursday.

My point is that 20 minutes before the 530 game everyone had already driven through the storm and was at Sharp or were just a few minutes away. That is when Pendleton Co Schools made the decision to cancel. Why not go ahead and play the game? Both teams drove an hour to get there from Boone Co. So with safety in mind they said go ahead and drive another hour while it was still snowing. If they would have watched the weather they would have known that the storm was just about over and the hour long game would have given the road crews time to treat the roads. If we were already there how did they have our safety in mind by sending us home without playing the game?

I disagree with you about the two best teams meeting in the finals. In the case of the 6th grade girls bracket, it has been assumed all year that Highlands and Conner were the 2 best teams. Now, if they were to both advance, they will meet in the semi-final round. It doesn't matter how the brackets are set up, you aren't going to make everyone happy. The people running the league made a mistake changing them after posting. They were lucky to have the weather put a delay on the start in order to "correct."

Actually that’s how the original brackets came out. Then they changed them for some reason, now they have changed them back. Someone obviously talked them into doing the 2nd revision, Congrats to them making things right! While I agree that everyone may not have things the way they want the same district should never play again until the finals if they happen to get that far.

 

As far as what District #1 plays who and when, that is supposed to be predetermind at the preseason meeting, and is supposed to rotate every year.

I think you must have forgotten that Boone County has 14 Elem. Schools, 5 Middle Schools, and 4 High Schools all with school activities in the evening. I am sure they didn't even know there was a middle school game at Sharp. They made the decision with the information they had. I would much rather of them waited as well, but when you don't know what the weather is going to do its hard to put people out in that weather at the time. The meteorologist didn't even know what to expect.

While I don't disagree that the brackets should have been set-up this way in the first place I do disagree with changing after they were published and on a day when the games were to start. This format is the way it should be but does not always guarantee the best 2 teams play in the finals.

The first brackets sent to the AD's were set up how they are now, so who is right? Who changed them and why, why did they revert back, glad they made it right but why did it change in the first place, all sounds a little dirty to me....

My understanding is that the original brackets were not what was agreed upon by the AD's of the various schools at the beginning of the season. This is the reason for the second bracket - supposedly, the AD's wanted a clear winner from Districts 1/2 & 3/4. I'm not sure why there was another change made yesterday, and we may never really know the answer to that.
