All games are to be played today at Turkey Foot Middle School

First game at 10am girls 6th grade followed by boys 6 grade girls 7 boy 7 girls 8 boy 8th at 4:15. Game times are 1hr 15min apart

I believe Conner beat Pius in 7th grade final. #5 for Conner is a smooth player.

7th Grade Boys: Conner beats St. Pius for the 3rd time this season to win the regional championship. This team is now 53-6 (25-2 this year / 28-4 last year) over the last 2 seasons with the following on their resume:

• 7th grade regional champs

• 6th grade regional runner-ups (lost to Woodland in finals last season)

• 7th grade district champs

• 6th grade district runner-ups (lost to St. Pius last year in championship)

• 7th grade conference regular season runner-ups (Ockerman won it this year)

• 6th grade conference regular season champs

 

Coach Doug Rabe has coached them both seasons and deserves a huge pat on the back and a big congrats for coaching them so well. He is easily one of the better coaches in the region.

Who is #5?

Adam Kunkel...they kid can play. Has a great attitude and works hard.

Gray 6th grade won the final game. Came back from being down. It will be interesting to watch the two bigs for Gray, if other kids start to grow this summer they could be come an average team really quick.

Any results from the 8th grade boys and girls games?

Conner 6th grade girls won by about 20 or so. Finished the year undefeated.

Just out of curiousity, do all Conner 6th graders play, i.e., do they have any 6th graders that play up and did not play for the 6th grade team? Reason being that Highlands, which only lost to Conner this year, does have a sixth grader that plays up freshman and JV for Highlands. Might be a more interesting match up in years to come when she enters the picture.

No Conner 6th graders play up.

7th grade, I look for Connor to take a step back this year. I believe they only lost 2 games last year. Their guards haven't grown at all.

 

I have a fresh serving of hot crow for this comment now.

 

Conner went 25-2 this year and won the Region because of their guards! Their two guards are without any doubt two of the top five guards in the region, if not the best two guards period. Their point guard handled the ball better than any PG I saw all season and their SG might be the best player overall, not just at his position, in the 7th grade.
