  1. Ryle lost the first period in a close score. They settled down and won the 2nd and 3rd periods. Total score, Ryle won.
  2. Serious contenders - Savannah Wheeler - Boyd County Emma King - Lincoln County Hayley Harrison - GRC Lauren Schwartz - Ryle Maliaya Owens - Scott County Cameron Browning - Male All teams who could make a lot of noise come tournament time!
  3. Lauren Schwartz is without question one of the best - if not the best - senior in KY. I have watched all the girls that are potential Miss Basketball candidates, Lauren and Emma King (the frontrunner) played together all summer. Watched Hayley and Savannah as well. Not sure how to help get Lauren’s name in the conversation, but it should be. This is by no stretch to take away from Emma King and her consideration! Emma is a great girl, very talented basketball player. Ryle has high hopes this year and if Lauren can lead her team deep into the state tournament I hope she will become a strong potential candidate as well.
  4. SATURDAY NOV 10th - Top teams from KY and OH square off all day at Ryle high school on Nov 10th. Mason, Lakota West, Loveland and Central Pickerington are all top 10 Ohio D1 programs this year. Pickerington is the defending D1 Ohio State champs. Roger Bacon, West Clermont, Kings will all likely be top 10 Cincinnati schools this year too. Sycamore and Wyoming are strong Cincinnati programs Sacred Heart, Ryle, Male and Conner should be top 10 teams in Kentucky this year. Highlands, Dixie and Bullitt East likely top 20 in state. Eastern is always a great team and Boone is an up and coming young team in the 9th SCHEDULE MAIN GYM 10-1130am- Lakota West vs Conner 1130-1pm- Kings vs Louisville Male 1pm-230pm- Sacred Heart vs Mason 230pm-4pm- Ryle vs Pickerington Central 430pm-6pm- Loveland vs Louisville Eastern 6pm-730pm- Roger Bacon vs Highlands 730pm-9pm- Sycamore vs Dixie GRAY GYM 2pm-330pm- Wyoming vs Boone 430pm-6pm- West Clermont vs Bullitt East Full ref crews, score is kept. Should be a great day to preview some top girls basketball teams! Battle of Border KY vs OH — Lady Raiders Basketball
  5. Ryle basketball star Lauren Schwartz has verbally committed to Rice University. In addition to being one of the top 20 academic universities in the country, Rice Women’s Basketball is quickly becoming one of the top women’s program in the country as well. 23-10 last season - Returning their best players from last season and adding in a top recruiting class from 2018 will make the Owls a top team to watch this year. Their head coach helped make Maryland a final four team and has completely turned around the Rice program around the last four years. Lauren’s 2019 recruiting class is five outstanding 2019s already being called the “fab five”. I would expect this team to be making great runs in the NCAA tourney for the next 4-5 years. Lauren has worked really hard to earn this opportunity and is additionally an outstanding student. Congrats to Lauren and her family.
  6. I know this thread is old now but just for clarification we never allowed non Ryle districted kids to play for the Union Raiders in the beginning years. Or anytime I am aware of. The sticking point that UR had 95% Gray Middle kids and 5% Ockerman kids was not the NKMSAA problem with the UR early on since the first season they played against/scheduled UR non conference games. The given reason that the NKMSAA did not allow the UR into the league was that our insurance was not thru the Gray Middle. There were likely other non disclosed reasons they did not want the UR in the league though too
  7. Lauren Schwartz (Ryle High School) hit 1000 points tonight. Only a junior, she has lots left to score! Lauren has several Power 5 D1 offers including Xavier, Butler and NKU. She is Ryle's leading scorer and is averaging over 17pts per game and over 7 rebounds per game. And this is on a team with a full team of other girls that score points also. The amount of work Lauren has put in is impressive and its been paying off. Congratulations to a great player and a great all-around girl!
  8. We are trying to spread the word about the scrimmage Saturday at Ryle. It should be a great day for kicking off girls basketball in NKY. Top NKY teams face off against top out of town teams all day. Including reigning Ohio State D1 champion Mount Notre Dame. 11- 1230 - Louisville Eastern vs Campbell 1230-2pm - Conner vs Kings (OH) 2pm- 330pm - Ryle vs MND (OH) 330-5pm - Louisville Bullitt East vs Cooper 5pm-630pm - Highlands vs Sycamore 630-8pm - Holmes vs St. Ursula (OH) 8pm-930pm - Notre Dame vs Wyoming (OH)
  9. Ryle Jenna Crittenden 2012, Xavier University Abby Jump, 2011, Wright State. First Lady Raider to ever play in the NCAA tournament. Current assistant coach at Morehead Records/Alumni — Lady Raiders Basketball

  12. I hope to be helpful. I would hate for untrue information to work against Maggie in this case. At no point has there ever been a plan to have Maggie at Ryle. My daughter, who attends Ryle, is best friends with Maggie. They would love to play together, and regularly talk about how fun it would be. We (Ryle bball parents) would of course love to have Maggie and have brought the idea up to her of course. Just as others have joked with us about our daughter attending SK. But for clarity, there has never been a plan to make a transfer happen. Maggie has consistently communicated her happiness with SK and the coaches there. The Jones have another daughter currently at SK and two others that have gone through SK. They love the community there and their situation. Our daughters have been best friends since 4th grade so of course we would all love to see them in school together, but none of us have ever seen it as realistic or had the desire to make a change happen. We bleed orange and black and they bleed blue and white! And we're still friends!! Not sure where the info came to start this thread but it is for sure an incorrect representation of the truth. I'm sure no one would want to do damage to a young players reputation or create a difficult situation for a family or young person. So hopefully this will put this thread to rest.
  13. Ryle was going to run into a tough game before the finals regardless of the draw. Holmes, Highlands or Holy Cross. We could have drawn a tough first round game (HC) but we didn't, so it's as good as could be hoped for basically. If there was seeding according to the season play this would be pretty close to what the bracket would look like. Best of luck to all the teams.
  14. Conner will be the team to beat in the 33rd (and the 9th) over the next several years. Their current 8th grade and 9th grade classes are really, really good. They have bigs and guards. Two freshman already playing only varsity, with loads more talent on the way. Their biggest problem will be finding court time for all the talented girls as they come up into the high school system!
  15. The seniors for Ryle are playing as well as I've ever seen them play. They are on a mission and the girls play with a "we cannot lose" attitude. Highlands has given them fits over the recent years so mentally this will be a difficult game. Having seen many of the top teams in the state play this year I think Ryle can play with, and beat anyone if they play well. I know the girls can win tonight and I believe they will. But the mental obstacle of beating HHS will be a challenge. It reminds me of the HHS football aura. Not sure what creates this, but if the girls can win tonight it will be a serious confidence builder going into the tournament.
  16. "Matts mustangs blew a huge lead. Lou Spartans showed lotta heart and advanced!" My mistake - sorry, should have waited for that score to post! Great upset win for the Spartans!
  17. 15u elite eight teams - Matts mustangs vs Hoop dreams Louisville lightning vs Ky gators Ky heat vs Lexington future Nky elite 2017 vs Louisville magic
  18. Louisville focus playing for 3rd/4th and the ky royals diamonds are playing for 5th/6th in the 7th grade AAU national division 2 tomorrow. Great showing for ky there regardless of how things go! The ky legacy elite basically placed 11th in division 1 - outstanding - 11th in the country is pretty good I'd say.
  19. This week in Cincinnati is the 7th grade girls AAU Nationals. In division 2 the central ky angels, the Louisville FOCUS and the lady royal diamonds (becoming the ky royals in the fall) all have made the sweet 16. The royals are from NKY. In division 1 the ky legacy elite have made the sweet 16 also. They are a NKY team as well. Congrats and good luck to all the girls teams - NKY is being represented well this year!
  20. There are several national associations for basketball. They each have their own 'nationals' tournament as well. The GBA girls nationals was in Cincinnati in June. I know the MYT and GRBA also have National competitions. As far as I can tell though, they all pale in comparison to the AAU. The AAU seems to be the only truly nationwide association. Often when rules are listed for the other association tournaments they say they go by "AAU rules".
  21. The Cincinnati based 6th grade Midwest Takeover team placed first in division 1 nationals this year - quite an accomplishment! Anyone know what other OHIO teams have won the national championship for division 1? I know Lebron James AAU team placed 2nd in 8th grade from watching his documentary movie -
  22. Although my daughters 5th grade team has been playing in the summer 5th grade boys leagues at Sports All Sorts in union and Nothing But Net in Milford Ohio. They have beaten all the boys teams. They have lost once or twice when some key girls were missing, but they have beaten those boys teams later. However, I would guess we just haven't run into the top boys teams in the area yet, I would think we might be overmatched against those teams.
  23. I'm sure girls would not be as deep as boys. It's prob the same relation as the NBA to the WNBA or NCAA men's compared to women's. There were about 30 division 1 5th grade girls teams and about the same number of division 2 girls teams in Tennessee this week. I would bet there would be 35-45 boys teams in each division.
