My daughters AAU team is playing in the Division 1 AAU National championship game today. We were wondering about the best KY team finishes in the past in Division 1. This is what we could find - anyone know any other top 8 finishes?

I have a question and this is not to downplay girls AAU but are there as many competetive girls teams as they are boys Nationally?

I'm sure girls would not be as deep as boys. It's prob the same relation as the NBA to the WNBA or NCAA men's compared to women's. There were about 30 division 1 5th grade girls teams and about the same number of division 2 girls teams in Tennessee this week. I would bet there would be 35-45 boys teams in each division.

Although my daughters 5th grade team has been playing in the summer 5th grade boys leagues at Sports All Sorts in union and Nothing But Net in Milford Ohio. They have beaten all the boys teams. They have lost once or twice when some key girls were missing, but they have beaten those boys teams later.

 

However, I would guess we just haven't run into the top boys teams in the area yet, I would think we might be overmatched against those teams.

Yea I have heard about those games. LOL Also heard Scott Draud pulled his boys team from playing against the girls in one tournament since they were beaten by them earlier. My stepson plays for the 7th grade boys Royals team.

The number of girls playing AAU basketball is undoubtedly less than the number of boys, probably fractionally as in 1/2 as many or 1/3. Not that I have any statistics to back that up, but that is my perception given the number of leagues and teams locally and state wide. With respect to the number of teams in the national Division 1 tournament, however, I think to look at that as winning a tournament of 26 or 28 teams is completely misleading, because those are not merely 26 or 28 teams that showed up; they all had to qualify, by finishing either first or second in their state/district, and I think every team the Royals played was a state champion.... West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Texas and North Carolina.

The Cincinnati based 6th grade Midwest Takeover team placed first in division 1 nationals this year - quite an accomplishment! Anyone know what other OHIO teams have won the national championship for division 1? I know Lebron James AAU team placed 2nd in 8th grade from watching his documentary movie -
