I think the Big East's BCS stock goes up sending PITT to the ACC.

If playing how they are capable, I believe they are definitely capable of playing with any of them from a defensive perspective. Everyone has bad games here and there; Florida beat Missouri 14-7 earlier today and I don't consider the Tigers that great of a team.

 

That's just it I don't think their defense could stop Oregon like they have the teams on their schedule, and I think Bama's offense is just good enough to capitalize on what Bama's defense would do to the Notre Dame O. Sure good teams have bad games, but in Bama's bad game this year they won by 19 against Ole Miss, and I know I'm biased but I would put Ole Miss above Pitt this year.

This was a let down game, ala BC in 93. They won. That is all that matters at this point.

Wow. When we left the tailgate to go into the stadium, Pitt was up 17-6.

 

My daughter was at the game, and I thought her jinx factor was in full effect. Until today, the Irish have lost every time she's been in attendance. She's gone to one home game a year for the last 5 now, losses to Syracuse in 08, UConn in 09, Tulsa in 10, USF in 11, and now a 3 OT win over Pitt. The streak is broken.

I watched most of this game, Alabama and/or Oregon will beat Notre Dame by 30+ if they play. Kansas State might have a harder time with Notre Dame, but Notre Dame isn't close to hanging with Bama or Oregon. Bama would completely shut their offense down and Notre Dame's offense couldn't come close to keeping up with Oregon.

 

It's reality, Notre Dame is winning, but they aren't at an elite level at this point. They are top 10 but I'm not sure they are top 5 material.

Their schedule is one of the toughest in the country, week in and week out they don't have a team like a Texas State, South Alabama, etc like most teams in the country have where you just show up and you win. The teams they play if you have a bad game like they did today, the teams they play can actually win. Then you have two teams in Oklahoma and Stanford who would be in the top 10 and close to the top 5 if they had beaten Notre Dame.

 

Here is the teams in the top 10 right now outside of the top 5 Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Florida State, Louisville. Not a single one of those teams have done more or been more impressive to say they are better and deserve to be a top 5 team over Notre Dame.

 

In fact Notre Dame is very much like the team who just about beat Bama today in LSU. Great defense, strong running game, but overall not a strong offense. As we seen that type of style can play with and beat Bama. Now if they play Oregon I agree with you, because that is just a bad matchup for them. However right now they are definitely a top 5 team, teams have bad games a long the way it is not like its a new thing. We saw that exact thing when Ohio State won in the year 2000's. Never looked pretty against anyone, but just kept winning.

I don't like to compare scores because it's not the best indicator but the one common opponent of the Alabama and Notre dame is Michigan. ND beat them by 7 at home, Alabama beat them 27 on a neutral field. And you say not one of them has done more to deserve it, Florida's only loss is to a top 10 opponent on a neutral field in a close game. How high would Georgia be if they hadn't lost to top 10 South Carolina? How high would Florida be if they hadn't lost to top 10 Georgia? Why is it you can play the Oklahoma and Stanford would be ranked whatever and then say Georgia and Florida haven't been as impressive? Notre Dame hasn't played one current top 10 team, the one cupcake game a year an SEC team plays does not all of the sudden make Notre Dame's schedule so much better. BYU, Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt, Purdue, Navy, Miami are all average to below average opponents. And Notre Dame has struggled in most of those games, Pitt isn't a fluke bad game. They beat BYU at home by 3, beat Michigan at home by 7, and beat Purdue at home by 3. Purdue is 3-6 on the year, their 3 wins are EKU, Marshall, and Eastern Michigan. BYU is 5-4 with wins over powerhouses such as Washington State, Weber State, Hawaii, Utah State, and Georgia Tech. So no Notre Dame has not done anything that impressive this year, and Bama would destroy them if they played.

People's hate for ND often clouds their judgement. Wasn't pretty by any means tonight, but this team keeps winning they fought hard tonight and it was a great game to be at. Never have I seen a crowd come alive like that!

You are making my own point. You talk about how say Florida and Georgia lost to top ten teams. But guess what South Carolina would not even be in the top 10 if Georgia had beaten them. So if Georgia had beaten them and South Carolina not in the top ten, does that make South Carolina average like people like to say about the teams Notre Dame beat after they win? What about if Florida had beaten Georgia, Georgia would not be in the top 10 anymore either. Would that have just made the Florida win against Georgia just an average win if they had beaten them? It is hate on Notre Dame when you act like this about it. Both Oklahoma and Stanford would be top 10 teams if they had beaten Notre Dame and people would be considering them very good teams just like South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, etc. However since it was Notre Dame who beat them, now people like you say well they were just average. I know those other teams in the top 10 are also very good teams, never said they weren't. However they have not shown anything more to say that they are better. Its like your basically saying they get credit for LOSING. While Notre Dame does not get credit, because they beat some teams that made those teams not top 10 anymore. Stanford is in the top 15 still with those two losses, and guess what if they had beaten Notre Dame they would be in the top 10 and the same goes with Oklahoma. So its like some of you want to blame Notre Dame for WINNING and making those teams no longer top 10 teams. However give other teams credit for LOSING because they lost to top 10 teams, which if they beat those top 10 teams those teams wouldn't have been top 10 anymore either. So I guess you all are saying you would have more respect for Notre Dame if they had two top 10 losses, instead of being undefeated. I give them all the credit in the world for winning the games they played, but am tired of people claiming that their schedule is amazing. They have beat a few OK teams not BCS teams and a lot of awful over rated teams.
