October 29, 201213 yr Just in from the AP.....AMES, Iowa (AP) — President Barack Obama is poised to eke out a victory in the race for the 270 electoral votes needed to win re-election, having beaten back Republican Mitt Romney's attempts to convert momentum from the debates into support in all-important Ohio, according to an Associated Press analysis a week before Election Day.

October 29, 201213 yr  Kind of like UK fans on here after Duke wins on Nov. 13. You know it. We are gonna have a little soiree here with our youth group that night. The youth pastor is a Dukie and we are gonna watch it here at our house. I suspect that will have more suspense in this state than the Tuesday night the week before in KY.

October 29, 201213 yr Wonder if the storm in the northeast will keep some voters in their homes. Even if they do it would not change the electoral college numbers.
October 29, 201213 yr Yeah right, the networks called Al Gore the winner in 2000 several hours after the polls CLOSED , and they were still wrong. Remember when people were waiting in line to vote in Ohio and they closed the polls? This thing is way too close to call. Almost all the swing states are within the margin of error.
October 29, 201213 yr From the article, "The AP analysis isn't intended to predict the outcome." Come on, now. You don't expect BGH to point out facts like that in his posts, do you? ;D

Actually, they were right - Gore did win the popular vote. He lost the electoral college.
October 30, 201213 yr Actually, they were right - Gore did win the popular vote. He lost the electoral college. Which is stupid IMO, you might as well say your vote dont count or every vote counts. The people voted in Gore, he had more votes, so IMO he should have won. EC is over rated.

The popular vote alone means smaller states or states with sparse populations won't be equally represented. I don't see that as a good or fair thing.
October 30, 201213 yr The popular vote alone means smaller states or states with sparse populations won't be equally represented. I don't see that as a good or fair thing. I don't necessarily agree with that. As a citizen of Kentucky, I'm certain Mitt Romney will win all 8 of our electoral votes. I plan to vote for Obama, but in reality my vote, along with 30-40% of the votes of Kentuckians, will mean little. Because of that, Obama will make no effort to win votes in Kentucky. Now imagine if Obama knew that those 1+ million votes of Kentucky Democrats and independents could boost his overall total to win the popular vote? Isn't it possible that he might make some more appearances in Kentucky, trying to convince some democratic voters in the commonwealth (who otherwise wouldn't vote, knowing their vote was in vain) to cast a vote for him, which could help to win the election?
