Look, Donald Trump is a poisonous cockatrice, but this is the most amusing thing I have seen in weeks, and is actually a stroke of political genius. He has done what Harry Reid did to Mitt Romeny on the floor of Congress without being a politician or associaitng himself with Romney, AND used a monetary negotiating tool with enough clout to get some pressure on, IMHO. At least this provides some flavor to the paltry dish this season's political intrigue has given us.

Lose-lose for the President. Not turning them over makes it look like he doesn't care about whatever charity he would give to and is hiding something. Turning them over opens a MAJOR can of worms for him and future president's. He'll ignore it.

The possible issue is claim of foreign citizenship. This would be very problematic since you must carry yourself as an American citizen when in the United States. And you must use your US passport to enter the country even if you hold other foreign passports. And though you openly be a 'dual citizen' as a minor at the age of 18 you must then make a declaration. From that point - when in the US - you must declare yourself as a US citizen when within the borders.

 

Most speculation is he maintained Indonesian citizenship status into the early 1980s or at least until his mother divorces Lolo Soetoro in August of 1980. The divorce lists 2 children and indicates the non-minor child (assumed to be Obama) is still in need of education assistance. Obama was an Indonesian citizen according to Indonesian law. As was his mother, though she seems to have secretly maintained her 'dual citizen' status even through Indonesia forbids this.

 

 

Obama could claim British citizenship today if he wanted. He still qualifies for BOC. But since his namesake father was an anti-colonial it is unlikely he would claim his BOC.

So I guess the thinking is that he listed himself as foreign born to assist in getting accepted to college. So he either lied to get into college (possibly) or is lying about is eligibility to be President?

Then give Trump an even bigger ego and make him think he is important and has influence. Trump is in that group that no matter what he says or does it doesn't matter, they will still find excuses and never be satisfied
