The CNN poll is showing Obama as a clear winner. Unlike the last debate, Obama is winning on most of the other specific questions as well. It seems pretty clear this was Obama's best debate. I didn't see it as that much better but this poll is not leaving much doubt that they think Obama was a clear winner.

 

That's about how I saw it. Obama was the clear winner in my view. It wasn't as dominant a victory as Romney's in the first debate, but definitely stronger than the second.

The first debate was the most impactful on the race, no doubt. As I said before the debates, it is in many ways more about image than the actual message. In that first debate, Romney showed everyone that he is a viable candidate, knowledgeable and articulate. No one was able to walk away from that debate and say Romney is not qualified to be president. That was what he gained in that first debate - credibility and people opening their mind to actually consider him as a candidate.

I don't know, I can't say for sure that Obama was a clear winner. I think people watching these debates expect Romney to perform as he did in the first debate. He has actually been fairly consistant. The difference is Obama stepped up his game. Heck, short of falling asleep in the last two debates, it looks better for Obama.

Romney sounding calm, strong and presidential. Obama sounding desperate and bitter -- resorting to partisan sniping and petty attacks. Romney is refusing to crawl into the mud with him. :thumb:

I just don't see the last debate changing anyone's mind on who to vote for. The first debate seems to be the one that mattered the most in that area. I think there are plenty of reasons for both Obama and Romney to feel optimistic about their chances on election day.

Agreed. I really don't understand how anyone can be undecided either. The election will be decided by the economy. People will vote because of their financial situation. These two have drastically different ideas on how to grow the economy. How can someone not know which one they like more right now?

There was way too much good TV sports to watch to bother with this debate. Of course, I'm not remotely undecided. I don't care who won this debate, if there really ever is a winner. And I'm not trying to be a wet blanket on this thread at all, but I'm just wondering if there is anyone in this thread that decided last night based upon what they saw.

I am very plugged in. I have watched all the debates and have followed the race and both candidates closely. I still am not sure who I will vote for. If you are truly an open minded person with little predisposed leanings one way or the other like me, then I can easily see how you might still be undecided. I vote for both Republicans and Democrats in every election. Romney has done a great job during the campaign. I feel very comfortable with him now and feel he would do a good job. I am not nearly as negative on Obama as many. I think he accomplished most of his main promises in the first campaign and I don't pin our economic woes on him. I see good and bad in both. I lean towards Romney because I think a fresh leader could be a good thing for the country psyche. My biggest obstacle in voting for Romney is I am strongly against repeal of Obamacare. It is a litmus test issue for me like abortion is for many. If Romney were not making the promise to repeal Obamacare, he would almost surely have my vote. With that promise firmly in place, it is going to be very difficult for me to vote for Romney. That is my dilemna.

Although he'll repeal it, I think he'll keep parts of it in tact. We need real change in health care, especially in cost. Obamacare doesn't address enough to make it affordable IMO.

I wish Romney would say that. I realize it is politics and black and white is better than gray, but my big fear if Obamacare is repealed is that nothing will happen for another 20 years. We have seen how incompetent Congress is. With the political football that Obamacare has become, I see nothing happening with health care reform if it is repealed, especially the mandatory coverage mandate which is an absloute must if you are going to make it all work.

I guess I shouldn't have said everyone will vote on the economy. My opinion is over 95% of the undecideds will and they are very far apart on how to fix the economy.
