The point is that the $90B was incorrect and the statement made by Gov Romney implied that all of the money has resulted in bankrupt companies.

I'm not sure I agree with that. My memory tells me it was quite one-sided in 2004.

Interesting reading of claims vs fact re: Solyndra. The accusation seems to be that the President picked Solyndra to get money even though they had a bad business plan. That doesn't seem to be true.

 

Lots of big investors (2nd biggest being a R donor) thought they were a strong candidate for venture money.

Obama came out last night looking like a fighter that was up 5 rounds with 3 to go and just wanted to hold on and avoid being knocked out. He got pushed around and didn't push back on areas that Romney wasn't truthful in, or didn't get specific enough in. Worst of all he came across as almost ashamed of his record. I was pretty dissappointed in his performance give how wobbly Romney has been the last few weeks. I was most frustrated by the fact that instead of coming out and proudly defending his record and clearly stating what stark differences there are in tax policy and what would happen to entitlement and the social safety net programs under Romney/Ryan he chose to play it safe and take punches. I don't know how much he let Romney back in the race if at all but he certainly didn't try to knock him out like I feel he could have done.

Worst of all he came across as almost ashamed of his record.

One of Obama's biggest achievements is Obamacare. Romney took him to task on how it was passed and all Obama did was suck his thumb. There's a reason he doesn't discuss his record.

Sure, Solyndra had backing from both sides if you want to look at it that way. It does not make it more right or wrong and it still folded like a lawn chair during Obama's administration. The ARRA did some good, but it did a lot of bad. We have two examples in Murray where the funds were wasted in the form of purchasing buses and fuel/salaries for buses to have a continuous route and an example of a great project with the addition of sidewalks along a busy corridor.

Well put. I am one of the few pro-Obamacare (not full on pro-Obama) people around and that was about the only thing he acted like he had some pride discussing. Even that was refuted by a more demonstrative Romney. It is as if Romney threw his wimpiness into the President for the night.

The point being made by 99% of the yakkers is that Solyndra got money because of political connections ONLY. Simply not true. When you have private equity firms ready to invest you've presented a good business plan. No clue as to why it didn't work. Irrelevant to the point being made.

The best attack Gov Romney made last night from a basis of effectiveness of message and because it didn't require him to be factual was when he said that the President wasted two years getting AHCA through when he should have been focusing on jobs. While the POTUS would argue that jobs are related to AHCA the message was quite effective and one that fact-checkers cannot take him to task for.

The next debate should be very entertaining as you have to figure the president will be more aggressive and Romney will continue what worked for him last night.
