Which is probably the samething we will be saying about Romney and his record if he gets elected. Romney is being a lot like Obama in 2008 with lots of bright ideas, however no really plan to make it happen. Shoot it doesn't even seem like he knows what his own plan is, since the things he said last night went against what he has been saying for the last 18 months. Every politician is hard to trust, however Romney seems to be even harder to trust than most. It seems like this time Obama is not going out throwing out all these great ideas that people would like to hear like he did last time. Instead he knows how hard it is to make it happen, so he is more about coming up with plans that can work. While Romney has a bunch of ideas that sound great and probably will gain some votes because it sounds great but doesn't seem to have a plan in place to give it a good chance to work. Or at least not one he is willing to discuss, which also could make you think his actual plan is different from what he just said last night.

 

Can't trust either of them, however at least Obama knows what it is like now and how hard it is to get things done sometimes. So I just think he would do better in his second 4 years than Romney will do in his first four years.

Give every family access to a great school and quality teachers. How? The hard right want the DOE budgets cut. How is Romney going to "give" anything to any family and stay within his party politics?

Attract and retain the best and the brightest from around the world. How? What programs is he going to put in place to do so? What will lure them here, and keep them here?

Increase domestic energy resources. Which resources will he focus upon? Oil? Wind? Solar?

Decrease non-security discretionary spending by 5%. OK....what are you going to cut? What criteria will be applied to determine the cuts? Is this an across the board 5% cut? Or will it be subject to lobbyist interests and exemptions based upon those?

Give states responsibility for programs that they can implement more effectively. Which are those?

Replace Obamacare with real health care reform that controls cost and improves care. Give me more details! What are you going to do? What policies will you apply that will control cost? Improve care? Are you repealing the entire ACA? Because the other day I heard you say you'd keep the provision to cover children until their 26 on their parents plan.

The best attack Gov Romney made last night from a basis of effectiveness of message and because it didn't require him to be factual was when he said that the President wasted two years getting AHCA through when he should have been focusing on jobs. While the POTUS would argue that jobs are related to AHCA the message was quite effective and one that fact-checkers cannot take him to task for.

 

To which Obama should have replied, "Gov. Romney, I listened to the people. They voted for me in 2007 in large part because they wanted health care reform and I delivered on my promise. If you think that is the only thing I did in my first two years in office, I suggest you have you research team go back to work. But let me help you, here is what I did in my first two years ... "

I agree. Romney was excellent, better than anyone could have hoped for IMO. Obama helped him out by being so bad but Romney took advantage and poured it on.

The bottom line is Romney could have said that Obamacare called for the electric chair for anyone over 90 and Obama would have give him a "really?" look. Obama was not prepared and seemed to lack knowledge of the subjects and interest in general. Maybe he is believing the media that he is way ahead. Either way Romney gave the impression that he was more confident, determined, and had a better grasp on the economic problems and how to fix them.
