The close up footage shown immediately after the play clearly shows no more than two steps. Penalty regardless and not the reason why UK lost this ballgame.

I didn't want to get into this at all, but I have to ask, have you seen the TV version of this play? If not, you need to watch it before you keep on with this, and you'll see that you're off by a step. His first step you speak of is still in bounds (the right foot), his second step is almost midway between the sideline and the second line. He gets hit as his right foot comes down again. Clearly out of bounds 100%. 4 steps as they said on telecast? No. 3 steps? No. 2 steps (or as someone argued earlier almost 1.5 steps)? Yes.

 

That's from watching an HD replay in slow motion from the rear of the play. It's far clearer than your angle.

If not, you need to watch it before you keep on with this, and you'll see that you're off by a step.

Hey, it's nothing to argue really. Either way, he's clearly 4-5' out of bounds and the call is correct. The real argument is whether or not Joker should be fired in the morning or after the season.

On the call. Your angle showed the Western player launching himself on an angle that is out-of-bounds by a few fee to make the contact. That is why I am OK with the call 100% after seeing it.

 

On Joker. Unless he resigns voluntarily it probably an end of season thing. Barnhart will need to get a lot of people lined up for the likely inevitable decision and following hiring process. No knee-jerk reaction with one man making the call on a replacement. Barnhart will need support (and likely dollars) of some big guns in the booster organization for the new hire.

At 18 seconds #80 from WKU decks #5 from UK on his way to celebrate with the rest of the team. Looks like a ref was looking right at him. How come this isn't a penalty? Is it because the game is over? It was clearly intentional and defined the complete lack of respect that WKU had for UK.

The Sun Belt has two guaranteed tie-ins: New Orleans Bowl and the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile. I believe they also have deals with a couple other bowls to put in teams if they can't fill the spots otherwise guaranteed to other conferences. I think it's the Compass Bowl in Birmingham and the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in Tampa.

Yes, it is a disgrace to lose to a team from the Sun Belt Conference at home. Kentucky was completely dominated by WKU. This was a disastrous loss and I think there is no way Joker gets another year unless he does something miraculous.

That was an uncalled for cheapie. I think some coach applied discipline action would be appropriate. Western let lack of discipline become a problem in this game. They better not let it get worse as season goes on.
