That was an uncalled for cheapie. I think some coach applied discipline action would be appropriate. Western let lack of discipline become a problem in this game. They better not let it get worse as season goes on.

WKU is a nice football team, no question. I give them all the credit for stomping Kentucky. You are sorely mistaking, however, if you think the Hilltoppers can compete in the SEC.

Didn't say they could compete in the SEC, said they could compete in the SEC better than Kentucky.......WKU sacked Bama's QB six times with first unit in the game....IMO, WKU will compete for the Sun Belt title

They've had a pretty solid run starting about this time last year. Willie T is really doing a job in Bowling Green. Hope they hold on to him.

Joker is doing more to get other coaches promoted than anything else......I look for both Coach Strong (UL) and Coach Taggart (WKU) to get offers when bigger jobs come open. Maybe then UK has a chance when playing them!

At 18 seconds #80 from WKU decks #5 from UK on his way to celebrate with the rest of the team. Looks like a ref was looking right at him. How come this isn't a penalty? Is it because the game is over? It was clearly intentional and defined the complete lack of respect that WKU had for UK.

Wow that was dirty. Only thing I can figure (and this does not justify it) is that #5 may have been trash talking or done something else earlier in the game and #80 for WKU was getting even?

Hindsight is 20/20, but it is hard to believe that we couldn't find a scholarship for an athlete like Antonio Andrews at UK.

 

I tried to preach it to everyone in NKY. The kid was a legite SEC athlete. NewCath had some fast players and he made them all look slow in the state game.

Well, not one single SEC school offered him. Louisville was the biggest name school to offer him, after that there was a huge drop off. Until the Kentucky game he has done very little.

I understand that, but it was b/c of where he went to school and his build. Put him in the slot at Trinity and you have a highly recruited athlete. Give him a couple of inches, and he would have been a much higher recruit. His game speed is legit.

 

Also, the past two years he backed up an NFL caliber back. So he's had 3 games to really be featured and one was against Alabama. He'll have a good year.

In the championship game against NCC however, Antonio was playing QB and was on the receiving end of a throw-back pass.

I agree. All Antonio could do the last two seasons was prepare himself and be ready when he got the call to play and show his talent. Bobby Rainey made several All-American lists last season and the only way he was coming out of a game was on a stretcher which fortunately never happened. Antonio has made the most of his opportunity and will only continue to get better.

Oh, I remember. I remember everytime he dropped back to pass I held my breath b/c I was so nervous that our guys would get out of their rush lanes. Once that happened, he wasn't going to be caught in the open field.

I was selling him on watching him in high school compared to the kids up here that have gone DI. I thought that he and Hickey were very comparable athletically, but Hickey had a much better arm.

If I am not mistaken, not one single SEC school offered Randall Cobb either... IF UT offered, it was very late.

 

I am not saying that Andrews is Randall Cobb, however like Cobb, Andrews was a high school QB who was undersized, but all he did was win and make plays.

 

UK has to be willing to take these type of kids, who might not meet the size/position criteria for Big time SEC schools, but who are good football players and more importantly WINNERS!
