I hate this for a lot of reasons, the primary one being that I like Joker Phillips. He's home grown, wore the blue & white, & would likely stick around if successful. No chance he survives now.

Bill Curry was (is) a very likable guy also.

UK got a delay of game penalty to begin overtime. They didn't deserve to win. I was at the game and you could have thrown a gernade in the upper student section and nobody would have been injured. The energy is out of Commonwealth Stadium and after Florida smacks them around next week the place could be half empty for the USC jr. game.

In the "how many games will UK win" thread I went with 3 but struggled because I thought they would struggle with WKU. I now say 2.

Very good win for WKU. Good news is first win ever against an SEC school , bad news it was UK. No one outside the state will blink an eye at this score.

Think Antonio Andrews wasn't playing with extra motivation after not being recruited by UK?

Antonio was selected Mr. Football & Gatorade Player of the Year for the '09 season. 3 state championships & undefeated for two years as the starting QB at Fort Campbell. He wanted to go to UK, even wore a UK hand warmer that matched our Fort Campbell blue.

Joker wouldn't offer him a scholarship, said Antonio should walk-on at UK.

Everybody associated with Fort Campbell football has had an open wound and wanting Joker's demise since.

Well, Antonio went to WKU and spent the first two years backing up Bobby Rainey who is now on the Baltimore Ravens roster. We haven't forgotten the beef with Joker.

Tonight, Antonio ran for 124, scored 3 TDs, threw the pass on the trick play for the 2 point conversion and victory.

He may have put the final nails in Joker's coffin. In this case, the old saying is true "pay back is a bitch".

Hindsight is 20/20, but it is hard to believe that we couldn't find a scholarship for an athlete like Antonio Andrews at UK.

But did he make contact? I can hold my fingers up in the shape of a gun and go "pchew" but that doesn't get me arrested for attempted murder.

Half way joking about the roughing call...on a serious note, Kentucky was completely dominated on both sides of the ball. They were absolutley man handled in the trenches and WKU was clearly the better and more prepared team.

 

Time to make some changes at UK? I think so.

No, he wasn't. He won just enough games to qualify for a bowl against a schedule stacked to make sure he made a bowl. Beating a slew of Norfolk States doesn't make you a solid coach.
