Highlands vs Beechwood (Frosh) Predictions

Don't be fooled by the small numbers. Beechwood has fewer players but many of the players they have played freshman ball last year. They are very good. HHS will be lucky to get a win this week.

Frosh version of SEC speed vs B10 power. Tigers will open it up, they have 5 kids that can flat fly. Birds will pound it off tackle all night. My heart tells Tigers win it, head tells me Baby Birds in a tight one. C'mon heart.

Beechwood has 24 total players and 5 are 8th graders.

Are you serious? Wow.

Those are the typical Beechwood numbers for a freshman team.

Well, to tell on myself, I thought this was the varsity thread and thought Beechwood was dressing 24 varsity players. I was, unnecessarily, shocked.

24 freshman is a solid number.

There were 29 healthy players at practice today. The injuries are mounting.

Injuries are not mounting, it is sickness that is running rampant through the school. Nowhere else do germs travel better than in a football locker room.

Birds will pull it together for a win. They will do what needs to be done.

Should be a hard fought, entertaining game. From what it appears both teams have athletes and are well coached. To close to call, no one will win by more than a TD, IMO.

No doubt about that, I remember in college we had an outbreak of staff infections....it spread like a wildfire!

I predict 35-7 tigers. The qb for beechwood is an excellent player. The tigers also got the kid from Simon Kenton (32) "transferred". Beechwood returns a 3 year starter at TE (combs), all 5 online man are back (however, not as good as you would think) and the QB is back for his second year as starter. This kid probably should be starting varsity. The QB will be the difference.

Beechwood by 4 touchdowns? Wow. That's strong. Mayfield and the rest of the 1A teams better get ready for 3 years of Beechwood dominance starting next year. I knew Beechwood was great but Trinity couldn't beat HHS freshmen by 4 touchdowns. The birds wheels would really have to fall off tomorrow night to lose by four touchdowns.

Seems there is a lot of illness going around on the HHS Frosh..Hope most can play tomorrow..

It's funny how people use the term "transferred" Given that he is a Freshman, he never was a student at Simon Kenton. There's no transfer if they never went to the school.

Who in this group of lineman started last year on the Beechwood freshman team?

Come on, OSD! .... Don't bring facts to this conversation!!

Birds have to contain Fieger, be aggressive on the flat passes, and safeties can't let receivers behind them. Highlands has to do a better job not making mental errors (penalties) and putting the ball on the carpet. Highlands has had too many fumbles and interceptions over the first three games. Beechwood's speed allows them to capitalize on turnovers. The key to this game is finding a way to slow down Fieger's running and passing while grinding it out on the ground on offense. If the birds win they do it by keeping BW's offense off the field and keeping the score low.

The birds have a few key injuries this week (Hergott and Kendall) and some illness. Other guys have to step up to keep it close.
