Birds have to contain Fieger, be aggressive on the flat passes, and safeties can't let receivers behind them. Highlands has to do a better job not making mental errors (penalties) and putting the ball on the carpet. Highlands has had too many fumbles and interceptions over the first three games. Beechwood's speed allows them to capitalize on turnovers. The key to this game is finding a way to slow down Fieger's running and passing while grinding it out on the ground on offense. If the birds win they do it by keeping BW's offense off the field and keeping the score low.

The birds have a few key injuries this week (Hergott and Kendall) and some illness. Other guys have to step up to keep it close.

So are these two not playing?

Kendall is out for sure. I believe he was told 4 wks. on a lower leg fracture. This is week 2. Not sure abt Hergott (possible concussion).

Hopefully Highlands is not afraid to get off the bus. I do expect this to be a very competitive game with the key being whether Highlands numbers will wear down those of Beechwood if they only have 24 players including a handful of 8th graders. Highly doubt this game is more than a touchdown difference either way. There will be some very good skill players in this game, but it will be won by the team that is best able to control the line of scrimmage and thus control the clock.

Nkyfootball. Nice prediction. Halftime 19 to 7 BW. Fun to watch a disciplined team ... Not a helmet off on the BW sidelines. Remember when you could say that about highlands?

34-7 Beechwood to start 4th.
