I took a look back at the records and (I don't think I over looked any games) the last time a team hung up 31 or more on Highlands at home was September 23, 2005 against St. Francis Desales, OH which was a loss for Highlands. Cov Cath and Dixie came close a couple of times but neither have made the 30 mark at Highlands in the past 7 years. Considering Boyle had a less than stellar second half that really says a lot about what this team is capable of and they should certainly be proud.

 

I feel much better about the future of this season after last night's game. Take away the first 6:00 of the third quarter when two muffed knockoffs and two turnovers doomed us and I liked what I saw last night from Boyle County. I've never been this encouraged after a loss.

Purple, you all have a very good team your going to run away with many games this year. Your running attack is 6 weeks ahead of itself. If Boyle can get reps with the play action pass and passing in general, the o will be almost unstoppable. You all left two TDs on the field last night in the passing game. One with the wide open end over thrown. And the other when the slot guy dropped the wide open pass in the 4th You should have had 45 points. Boyle is gonna be a force to reckon with.

I liked it better when we let William Harris kick it into the endzone. We always try for onside kicks at funny times so it's hard to complain about it. I could be wrong but both of Highlands first half scores came when we failed to kick it into the endzone.

 

Hindsight is 20/20.

The kid that missed the wide open pass is a true freshman named Josiah Robbins. He will be the next great player to come from Boyle County. He's very talented in all three major sports. He very well could be a throwback three sport star when he graduates in four years. He led the varsity baseball team in batting average last year as an 8th grader. He will shine going forward.

It wasn't as much as a on side kick but a pooch kick. This is something that Boyle has done many times in the past when the team has a good return game. The kick itself was high and a fair catch called by the highlands player with no return. Boyle would take it if a mistake happened by a highlands player but it was more or less to make sure there was no return for a td. After all, the previous kick was about returned for a td. At the time the defense was playing pretty good and Boyle liked their chances with that decision.

Whole lot of would of could of. I liked that Boyle coaches tried to drop the hammer when they had the upper hand. You can't look back and take a play out and would have could have. Two examples cited, the slant with a whole field in front of him and the fumble on the play action pass at the highlands 25 30 yd line. Both of those things occurred on the drive in which Boyle fumbled the exchange when Highlands defender hit the back in the backfield. Another defender picked up the ball and would have walked to the end zone , but a ref blew the play dead thinking the fullback had the ball and had been tackled. This is why they play 150 plays, not one or two.

Now that I am off my iphone and on my laptop, my thoughts on the game.

 

First.....Congrats are in order to Highlands as they where the better team for 4 quarters. I liked a lot from what I seen last night on Boyle and looking forward to this season. You can not turn the ball over against a team like Highlands and expect to win the game. Boyle had some big drop balls and open recievers that where overthrown that would have gone for 6 that might have changed the game. I think they now know what and where they need work on, to better themselfs down the road. A good game for Boyle to have had on their schedule and this will only make them a better team. Goodluck Highlands for the rest on the season and hopefully we can get another chance for a rematch.:thumb:

Hall impressed me a lot; if Boyle continues to utilize him, he will cause headaches for many.
