Based on what you are hearing, what time frame will the search take and when are they guessing they will start making offers? I have heard nothing so far.

Depending on who I talk to I hear completely different things...

It has been a while, Bert (BGP party at Executive West in 2004). Good to see you posting more. :thumb:

Alan was quizzed by a lot of people at last Friday's Fern Creek game about different coaching rumors. You can tell that he has been a long-time AD, because no matter what names were brought up, his facial expressions did not give away anything. Well I guess I better take that back. When someone jokingly mentioned that he had seen Bobby Petrino on campus riding his motorcycle, his eyebrows elevated and he uttered "no way". The only meaningful information obtained was that he noted that he had not been sitting on his hands for the past few months. My best guess is Stephan LeFors.

Wow Ox, I am impressed that you remember me.

While I am sure Alan is keeping names under his hat (as he should), he he mentioned anything about time of starting to talk to people etc.? I would think that would not be so sensitive and he may be willing to give broad/general answers.

I agree with Ox on his assessment and evaluation of the situation. Alan will make the decision and announce it when the administration is ready. I do not expect any "leaks". My guess is after the season is over so that it does not overshadow Mike's "farewell tour". I believe thay will allow the spotlight on Mike throughout. Plus, if it is Lafors, he has a job and would not want to distract his team.

But, it is allowed in Texas? Right?

As a football coach in Texas, I do not know any school that has boosters supplement salary. I can not say for certain that it does not happen, but no school in DFW, Houston or any private school does this. Maybe out in West Texas; I am unfamiliar with how they run their programs.

Most football coaches in Texas are AD's, so this is how they get big salaries because that is an administrative position. Southlake Carroll has a Director of Football operations position for their head coach, so this person manages football from youth to varsity and makes six figures.

I think St. X can make a similar administrative position model work for them and get a coach from a national search, but it sounds like that will not happen.

Create an assistant AD job. Let the football coach oversee swimming and tennis. I have to believe X has plenty of money. As long as the new coach buys into St. X's way of doing things get the absolute best person you can.

Sorry sports fan, the Tigers already have an assistant AD, and he is winner.

I would imagine that "The Decision" won't be made until around mid January. Right around "indoor" time.

I live in FL and I've heard of some alum down here that have their eyes on that X position. So I think it may be an unintential national search.

Again, depending on who I talk to I hear different things.

Will Wolford to X is gaining traction.

I understand Wolford is tight lipped on confirmation and denial...

Anyone?

Do youhave to be a certified teacher to be head coach? Does Will have a certification, I wonder? I am on the outside looking in on this one, but I can't see Will being the head coach (although I've been wrong many times before). I don't know that he's ever been a head coach, except perhaps at Holy Trinity grade school some years back, and maybe then he was only an assistant. I think he helped coach/train the St. X players in some cappacity, too. I believe X would want a proven high school head coach------just my opinion.

Will Wolford. Thoughts?

Let's look at some positives...pro-bowl level player, arena league owner/mgmt, CSAA connection, name that should get alumni base excited.

I guess this is why I am not in the high school administration business (see post 86).

That would be a great name if Will Wolford was named the HC, but I would be willing to bet that the administration wants the head football coach to be in the school building during the day. If Will Wolford is the new HC I'm surprised that it has already been "leaked".

Thought....will the new HC bring in a staff?
