August 13, 201214 yr City BBQ has some really good food. When I was working the NKU home basketball games, City BBQ catered the press room from time to time and those were the ones I looked forward to. The brisket is amazing as well as the sausage links if I remember correctly. I'm not a huge fan of ribs, but City BBQ had some pretty good ones. As for sides, their corn pudding is AMAZING. They also make some really good banana pudding as well. I agree. They catered the suite we were in for the Blake Shelton concert. Good eats!!

January 21, 201412 yr After leaving in Memphis for a year, no BBQ gets anywhere close to it. I do need to try Eli's still though. Had the Brisket sandwich from City...not bad.

January 21, 201412 yr .......... I guess I'm the only one, but I love City Barbeque. Their pulled pork is very good, their ribs are good, and they have awesome sides (and banana pudding). They also have the best sliced dill pickles I've had -- and yes, there is a big difference in good and just okay sliced dill pickles. The one in Hyde Park is jammed for lunch every day and the one in Florence does a great job (we get carry-out from there more than we eat in, but they are always kicking). I think the food at Famous Dave's is good, but the place feels dirty to me and the service has always been terrible. Doubt I could get the boss to return at this point, even if I wanted to go back.

I haven't BBQd as much this winter as I usually do — too damned cold! — but when the weather warms I will be back at it. We could have a mini-BGP get-together at my place this spring or summer if folks are interested.
February 9, 201511 yr Stopped in City BBQ over the weekend for lunch. New item on menu "More Cowbell" sandwich. Beef brisket with grilled peppers, onions, smoked provolone, horseradish sauce on Texas toast. Hard to believe a chain turns out a great item like that.

Might have to slide in and have one. We hit up Eli's yesterday. Great day to eat outside and enjoy some fantastic BBQ.
