July 31, 201214 yr Kentucky gives Drake personalized championship ring | Yardbarker.com "Now, Drake didn't really contribute much -- or anything -- to Kentucky's championship run this season, but he has been spotted alongside head coach John Calipari in the past."
July 31, 201214 yr Can anyone be cleared to purchase a ring? I'm guessing he paid for it but could I do so or would UK have to give me approval?
July 31, 201214 yr Can anyone be cleared to purchase a ring? I'm guessing he paid for it but could I do so or would UK have to give me approval? I'm just assuming, but I believe they have to be approved. However I'm sure you could have someone design a knock off if you really wanted to.
July 31, 201214 yr It'd be cooler if it was Jay-Z. He may get one too who knows? Heck he may have already got one.... I hope so anyway. May as well give Bron' one too.......
July 31, 201214 yr Let me tell you how old and out of touch I am. When I saw the thread title, my first thought was, "Why is UK giving another university a ring?" Guess I'm not as keen and groovy as I once was.

July 31, 201214 yr How is giving Drake a ring a recruiting tool? I'm lost at how it is an advantage for UK to give him a ring. Does he have family that can ball or something? Is it for guys like Willie Cauley who will be a better rapper than NBA player? I'm confused. To give Drake one and not Jay-Z is blasphemy. Cal lost points from me on this one. Dumb move IMO.

It creates the "cool"factor for the program to have such celebrities associated with it. At least that's my guess.
