August 1, 201214 yr You're totally missing the point. It's got nothing to do with Drake deserving anything. Just another way to keep Kentucky in front of recruits and on the top of their mind. Its not going to do anything by itself, but as part of the "all Kentucky all the time" agenda that Cal pushes, its perfect. Cal is trying to build the Kentucky brand nationally. Whether Drake is that guy to assist with that, I don't know, but it is all part of a big picture. I am not saying this move was smart or dumb, but rather just in line with what he is trying to accomplish.
August 1, 201214 yr I don't see Drake in that picture. Shoot, last time he was at Rupp it wasn't for a game.
August 1, 201214 yr Most likely Cal just trying to **** the NCAA off. How much time will they spend trying to find a rule this breaks?
August 2, 201214 yr (ahem......) ....steps on soapbox...... From now on if you feel like it is okay for Drake to get a national championship ring then do not ever mention UK's 8 championships to me ever again. You have lost credibility with me if you think it is fine and good for UK if Drake can receive a championship ring. There is sooooo much that goes into getting that championship. The players make the ultimate sacrifice, then the coaches and the rest of the staff. Lives change because of championships. Player's legacies are built on championships.(see Lebron James). Coach's legacies are built on championships.(see Calipari). The time, the blood, sweat and tears involved...the aches and pains...the whirlwind of life that takes place in and out of locker rooms for a 6 month period chasing the ultimate goal in a tournament where one off night ends your season. The moment when UK finally ascended back to the top of the throne of college basketball with a national title(#8) is cheapened by allowing a marijuana abusing, alcohol abusing, mysognistic and soft human being in general have his own personal championship ring that he did absolutely nothing to earn. It's a slap in the face to those who did earn the ring and a slap in the face to those who did more for the program than Drake and won't receive a ring. If it's all about getting UK 'out there' then enjoy being out there and don't ever mention 8 championships or 9 championships to me again. Your words ring hollow. You don't need championships to be 'out there'. ......steps off soapbox......
August 2, 201214 yr (ahem......) ....steps on soapbox...... [blah blah blah] ......steps off soapbox...... Where was the outrage over this? 1948 1949 1951 1958 1978 1996 1998 2012
August 2, 201214 yr Where was the outrage over this? 1948 1949 1951 1958 1978 1996 1998 2012 Never knew he got one. I don't know who the hell Brandon Weems is so I am sure he got one too. My outrage is equally the same. I think it is equally stupid for ANYONE not remotely affiliated with building a championship to get a championship ring. Cheapens it. Period point blank. (Smokey voice). YOU DIDN'T PUT IN ON THIS!!!! MAAANNNNNN.
August 2, 201214 yr Big Blue booty kisser is what Cal is.  I'd say he's done a great job, he's even got Duke fan's enraged and talking about UK all day every day. :jump:
August 2, 201214 yr I'd say he's done a great job, he's even got Duke fan's enraged and talking about UK all day every day. :jump: He's been tremendous at UK. Best job he's ever done. I don't even hate UK basketball like I used to because I like what he has done so much. I just hate the cheapening of a championship. Hate it.
August 2, 201214 yr Author If you weren't on the team or coaching staff, you don't deserve a ring... It's that simple for me. Giving Drake a ring was stupid and a slap in the face to the people that worked for it, and the same goes for Obama. If I were on the team, I would be ****ed about rings being handed out like t-shirts. They did NOTHING to earn those. Nothing. At all.

He and UK were a match made in heaven, only place I think he could have done may be as well is a place with a great program and great location such as UCLA. Man I'm sooooooooo glad he didn't get asked to go to UCLA.
