It's a roundly discredited and downright harmful practice that puts gay people, usually teenagers, through a system of "treatments" designed to cure them of homosexuality. It's been linked with severe depression and suicide. This goes way beyond simple beliefs.

I am not saying whatever therapy program you mention does or does not. I am saying it would be very difficult to pinpoint what caused what... But in general I am very skeptical of statistics. They are too easily manipulated.

But regardless of where the depression started, these sorts of treatments pull people away from real therapy to help people deal with the things they're going through. Even if it doesn't always cause it, it definitely doesn't help.

I was in Citrus Park Mall last Saturday morning and there was a Chik-Fil-A Cow mascot surrounded by kids and their parents, getting pictures and getting coupons.
