And the free fall starts.

Get ahold of yourself. This team will overcome Votto's injury.

They will be lucky to play .500 ball without him.

Only if the pitching drops off.

Alot of doom and gloom from fans of a 1st place team.

His OBP on April 22nd was .354, almost 3 months later his OBP is still. 354...It's safe to say his OBP isn't going to fall of that much, he isn't showing any signs of slowing up...
Most of his OBP is tied up in his batting average, which is .316 right now. He hasn't hit .300 as a full-time player since 2004. Good luck maintaining that.

He doesn't strike out at all...
So what?

I'd have to agree that his arm is a noodle, but he can still cover the ground in CF...One would have to think him getting on base in front of Votto would equal more Runs than his defense in CF would cost the Reds Runs...
How do you know? Have you seen him play centerfield in recent years? You would think a guy with his speed and alleged on-base ability would have had plenty of suitors this last offseason if he could actually man centerfield.

His OBP ability isn't alleged its .346 for his career...He still has plenty of speed that alone is enough to cover CF without losing a whole lot over Stubbs, speed is all Stubbs has afterall and he isn't a very good CFer he gets poor reads on a lot of balls...

I don't know what that means.

Axford blows a 2-0 lead against the Cardinals. Cardinals now lead 3-2.

His OBP ability isn't alleged its .346 for his career...
One more time ... Pierre is 34, so he's in the downside of his career, and his OBP in four of his last five seasons as an everyday player is .331 or below. That is much more relevant than his career stats.

He still has plenty of speed that alone is enough to cover CF without losing a whole lot over Stubbs, speed is all Stubbs has afterall and he isn't a very good CFer he gets poor reads on a lot of balls...
If that is the case, why has no team used Pierre as a full-time centerfielder since 2007? A guy with his offensive issues should be playing the toughest position available.
Axford blows a 2-0 lead against the Cardinals. Cardinals now lead 3-2.

Axford was 1 strike away to 3 batters to close out the save.

Hunter Pence who has 148 AB's in the 3 Spot for the Phillies this year has had 110 at bats this year with RISP, he is batting just .227 in those situations and has 34 RBI's...Joey Votto who has 297 AB's in the 3 Spot this year has had 62 AB's with RISP, he is batting .371 in those situations and has 36 RBI's...On the year in total Pence is batting .278 with 53 RBI's, Votto is batting .342 with 49 RBI's...It's scary to think what Votto's numbers might look like with Pierre and potentially BP in front of him...

I don't know of any way possible to actually calculate the difference having a guy like Pierre getting on in front of Joey could have on his numbers...However with Votto being an all around better hitter than Pence and a whole lot better with RISP I would think that Votto could have another 20-25 RBI's right now...It's pretty incredible that in almost half the at bats of Pence with RISP Votto still has more RBI's in those situations...
