Aside from that, I'd be sad to see the books go. I have A LOT of books, some of which are early or rare editions and in some cases might be irreplaceable. There's something about the loss or disposal of books that really gets at me.

My vinyl collection would be impossible to get out...and would personally be pretty devastating to lose. I'm glad that I have a fireproof safe now, though. I've got a few very meaningful things in there and I ideally shouldn't have to worry about them...like my great-grandfather's patent.

He has a good bit of my grandparents' photo collection, and probably a good 8 or 9 boxes filled with his photos from the pre-digital age. My dad was quite the photography geek...I grew up with a darkroom in my basement.

I think that would be a great investment.

My Wife, Kids (If I have any at the time), animals and my phone. All pictures we have are backed up. We have a fire proof save that I assume would survive the blaze with all important documents and money. Everything else can be replaced. I would also try to get car keys.

 

My brother had a fireproof safe when I was younger. He had some papers, money, and I believe basketball cards inside. None of it survived our house fire. I've read no safe is truly fire proof and you have to take into account how long the fire burns for. I can't remember how long it took for the fire to be put out, but it's still something to consider.

My prize posession(s) is my DVD collection, but there is now way that I could get that out in time. Other than that I don't have too many worldly posessions that really mean a lot to me. At this point in my life I guess I'd say this:

Members of Easy Company, the "Band Of Brothers", of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division in Ste. Marie-du-Mont, June 7, 1944. The Screaming Eagles were photographed with GI's of the 4th Infantry Division who had come ashore at Utah Beach on D-Day. The photograph was taken by Easy Company member Walter Gordon, using a camera belonging to Forrest Guth (front row, far left).

 

Apparently one of the guys in the pictures is Fred Talbert, whose name you might recognize if you've watched the mini series. It was then signed by 44 veterns of Easy Company, including a few names you might recognize: William "Wild Bill Guarnere, Richard Winters, Ron Spears, Frank Perconte, Don Malarkey, and etc. Lastly, it is also signed by Stephen Ambrose, who wrote Band of Brothers.

 

I wish it was real signatures, but it is merely a print. Either way, I love it. I have a very strong fascination with the European Theatre of WWII, especially our involvement and The Holocaust.

I'd grab the guns because they're worth a decent amount of money, maybe the TV if I had a chance. I guess now that I think about it the other thing I would try to get is my motorcycle out of my garage. In fact who needs a home as long as I've got a bag of guns and my hog........ I would become a nomad.

Lucky and my phones and computer and.my car keys. I will need the phones (at least one of them) to call into work. I don't want to tell work I left the $3k laptop to die. And I'll have to live in my car.

I think you might be over estimating how calm you would be if your house is on fire. :lol:

 

I'm clutch like Kobe and he said I have 5 minutes. Seeing as how I had time to plan out what I want out of the house....I'm ready. I'm always up for a challenge.

No family or pets to be concerned about. If I knew the neighbors were safely away, I could pack a ton of records out.
