June 28, 201214 yr I was asked the other night what we would do if it was a HS game. I said it would be cancelled or pushed back. I guess they must have listened. In this type of heat it can fool you. Since it is a dry heat when you sweat it evaporates quickly. It is not like when it is humid. This can cause some serious problems because people think because they are not sweating very much they are not overheating. It can get you very quick. Need to make sure they have access to plenty of water. I am going to pack of cooler for the entire team. Yeah. I always have a cooler for my team full of ice and extra drinks in case someone forgets theirs. I also bring a squirt bottle and cool them down between innings. Being coach pitch, we don't have to worry about anyone in full catcher's gear. It sounds like we're going to at least push them back to 7:30 as we are getting a bunch of calls from parents complaining we haven't call it yet.
June 28, 201214 yr Oh suck it up cry babies. But seriously be careful! Exactly. Stay hydrated and take necessary precautions. Sadly with it this hot that is most likely just staying inside.
June 28, 201214 yr Run to Kroger for bread and milk! Oh wait---wrong season. Depends entirely upon where you are. They still haven't restocked the Pop Tarts at the local Publix, from the run last weekend.
June 28, 201214 yr Was 79 on my way to the gym at 9:30 in Independence, was 92 at 11:50 when I pulled in to work in Florence. Days like today I'm glad I work inside.
June 28, 201214 yr Well, I lost. We cancelled our games for tonight. My son is playing is a 3 v 3 soccer tourney this weekend just north of Kings Island.
June 28, 201214 yr My son is playing is a 3 v 3 soccer tourney this weekend just north of Kings Island. Best of luck......My younger son won the whole thing in Florida when he was 8. Went through the districts and Regionals underfeated and was ranked #1 in the nation and came out victorious. Great experience. They still talk about it. Beat a team from Albequerque for the Championship.........they were not as "El Fuego" as they thought. 5 pasty white kids from Northern Ky beat everyone else for the Championship. ......AND......they had a blast walking out with the trophies right next to the UK Cheerleaders that had just won the College Cheerleading Championships.
