June 21, 201214 yr In terms of which songs would be most well known, I think you would have to consider "Ice, Ice, Baby", "U Can't Touch This" or "Baby Got Back". I'd be surprised if any rap song was more mainstream the "Ice, Ice, Baby". I agree with Ice Ice Baby. “Baby Got Back” and “Rapper’s Delight” are right behind.

June 21, 201214 yr First one that came to my mind was "Walk This Way" - Run DMC/Aerosmith. But bear in mind that I'm a 56 year-old white guy that once used the word "nifty" in a sentence. From a historical perspective, surely "Rapper's Delight" and "The Message" have to be high on the list.

June 21, 201214 yr They might not be popular enough to make the list for all generations, I would throw out: Changes - Tupac Lose Yourself - Eminem They are at least two of the most popular for my generation. And I'm with the rest of you that "Ice, Ice, Baby" probably takes it.
June 21, 201214 yr I don't know if I can honestly give an accurate answer to this one, primarily because whenever it comes to music on "the charts"...I'm left scratching my head and asking why in the hell people actually buy and/or listen to the majority of the completely crapulent music that makes "the charts". If I'm asked my idea of "most famous", I've learned that apparently it differs entirely from what the masses think. When I read the question initially, I immediately thought "Rappers Delight" in my head, but I might have to agree with PP92..."Ice Ice Baby" and "You Can't Touch This" are probably the two most famous, with famous simply being a numbers game of how many folks know of the song.
