November 8, 201213 yr [ATTACH=CONFIG]37597[/ATTACH] Actually saw this book in the ads here on BGP. Read some reviews & bought it last week. I'm a little over halfway through & it is excellent! Combines small town America (in Ohio, in this instance), high school football, & the whole thriller/murder mystery aspect. One reviewer put it best when he said, "Friday Night Lights meets In Cold Blood.". Randy---have you read any other Michael Koryta books? Which ones did you like? The Prophet was so good. I would be surprised (and thrilled) if he has a book that tops that one.

I haven't read any others because I've got so many other things I want to read. He has a couple of others that sound intriguing. So Cold The River is the one that I will probably read next.
November 8, 201213 yr Just finished Wait Till Next Year by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Good book about the 50's in general and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

November 9, 201213 yr I haven't read any others because I've got so many other things I want to read. He has a couple of others that sound intriguing. So Cold The River is the one that I will probably read next. The Cypress House was the only Koryta on the shelf. Already intriguing. What a great storyteller!

November 9, 201213 yr Is that one of any of his series? Or a stand alone? The Innocent is a stand alone. Very good read. I have recently become a Baldacci fan. But I don't care to read one that is in a series unless I have read the prior releases. Zero Day is also a great Baldacci stand alone.

November 9, 201213 yr Just finished reading "Nonviolence" by Mark Kurlansky. First off, I love everything I've ever read by Kurlansky. Second, in this book he shows that nonviolent resistance doesn't mean crawling into a corner and cowering. It really has been an effective tool for much of history.
