Another member sent this to me because she/he was afraid to post it. Hopefully this comes across as the legitimate question it is and not anything more or less. There are two threads on this. Now for the question.

 

If you are a white, by yourself or with your spouse and/or kids and you see 3 young black males dressed in baggy pants, hoodies and flat billed hats walking your way at night, do you cross the street to avoid them?

My answer is yes. However I want to add I would avoid the group of skin heads/red necks just the same.

I have to go with nWo's reply. It would all depend where I'm at when this happens.

To be quite honest, I'd avoid the skinheads/rednecks more than I would the black teens. And with my hairline I could easily be considered a fellow skinhead.

And I should add that I'm typically armed. Ain't skeered.

My thinking too, and to play off PP92 this is one of the reasons I generally avoid Walmart.

This actually happened to my friend after getting off work downtown Cincinnati the other night around 8 or 9. A group of 3 black kids were walking his way on the side walk and he didn't want to be that guy and cross the street so he just kept walking. Right when they got past they yelled "Get him". He turned around and they were all laughing. My guess is he will cross the street next time. :lol:

I wouldn't cross the street but I'd definitely keep my eyes peeled. I actually think I'd be more likely to cross the street if it was a group of red necks/white trash.

You might actually draw more attention to yourself by crossing the street. I wouldn't do it.

If someone is not planning on jumping you, crossing the street will do nothing but maybe make you look like "that guy". If someone is planning on jumping you, chances are they're going to do it whether you cross the street or not.

I thought we came to the consensus that everyone profiles but the difference between that and Zimmerman is that he 1.) allegedly acted on his profiling and 2.) killed someone in that action. That's a lot different than crossing the street.

Agree. However, if I cross the street and they make the effort to approach me, I'll have plenty of time to make it known that I'm not traveling with empty pockets. Then it's a matter of aim.
