Kansas 80 North Carolina 67

Final.

KU finally put it out of reach for UNC at the end while missing a lot of opportunities early on. Though KU isn't known for their great guard play I felt like the lack of a facilitator for UNC was the difference. They just didn't seem to have any one that could efficiently initiate the offense.

If Harrison Barnes comes back to UNC for 2 more years he will be a used car salesman.

UK now leads UNC in all-time NCAA tourney wins 109 to 108. I for one am hoping it is 111 to 108 after this week.

8 days from #8

Never doubted that Kansas would take this one.

N.C was over hyped again and with Duke and the rest of the ACC beind down it really made things kind of easy for them during the season.

North Carolina was not over hyped at all! The team made the elite 8 and was within one point still with 3 minutes to go, and that was without arguably the best point guard in the nation. Or at least the best point guard for that team, when you play the style they do, losing your pg really hurts. The man averaged 10 assists a game, that really hurts losing a player like that. They were not overhyped at all, but did have some bad luck.

I am for one very happy they are gone, because of how good of a team they are and how good they would be if Marshall ended up playing in the final four.

UNC showed exactly how talented they are. Down 2 PGs and they still had this game in their grasp.

Like FC they are the last team I wanted to see in the F4.

As perplexing of a player as there is. He was the consensus pre-season player of the year and he just did not bring it. He almost seems like too nice of a kid. Just because he has the ability to execute fade away jumpers does not mean he has to sit on the wing and attempt them all game.

I didn't see much of this game but I've seen a lot of tweets about Roy's inability to recognize the D that KU went to. Anyone?

They shifted to a Triangle and Two. Roy only thought it was for a few possessions but it was a good chunk of the second half.

I told you guys 2 years ago he had zero killer instinct...

While I hated for UK to once again face UNC, Barnes was not the reason.

Dadgummit, ol Roy apparently didn't recognize it.

I asked Williams what impact the triangle-and-two had on his team. His answer was stunning.

“I know they did for one possession, and they may have for another possession,” Williams said. “I’m not sure about that.”

Williams clearly was unsure because from press row it looked like the Jayhawks played the triangle-and-two for nearly half of the final 20 minutes. The Jayhawks confirmed that they played the combo defense for the final eight or nine minutes.
