P.K. Subban scored his first goal since coming off IR and Craig Smith gave the Nashville a 2-0 lead early in the second, but Detroit scored 2 in the second and 1 in the third to take a 3-2 lead.

Late in the 3rd, with neither team able to get a shift change and the clock under 2 minutes left to go, the Preds were able to work a partial shift change and Renne went to the bench to give Nashville a 6 on 5 advantage. From that the Predators were able to hammer a tired Red Wing line and Ryan Johansen tied the game with 1:16 left in regulation.

However, with 24 second left in OT, Dylan Larkin backhanded the puck past Renne for the game winner.

Nashville did pick up a point, with the OT loss, and with Winnipeg losing to Pittsburgh, close back to within 1 point of 1st place in the division.
