Inside the 14th Region - Week 10

Recommended Posts

1.Perry County Central (20-7):

The Commodores reign supreme on the region. Perry Central has improved their overall record to 20-7 but most importantly, they’ve improved their REGION record to 9-0. 6 of those 9 wins have been by double digits. With just 2 games left, can the Commodores keep this streak going or will Breathitt County hand them their first region loss? But before that game, the Commodores will focus in on Belfry.

2.Knott County Central (16-8):

The Patriots have been playing good ball as of late, having won 6 straight before falling @ Perry Central 68-60. The 53rd district with Knott, Letcher and Cordia all battling to get to go to the region tournament should be a fantastic one.

3.Cordia (12-6):

The Loins started the season off struggling, in fact, they won their first two games before losing 5 of their next 6 games but since then the Lions have been on a tear, winning 9 of their last 10 games. One thing is for sure, if Cordia keeps this up, they just maybe in the region championship game and maybe hanging a district championship banner up.

4.Letcher County Central (16-8):

The Cougars had hit a rough spot last week losing 2 of their 3 games they had but they have since seem to have gotten things turned around winning 4 straight before falling to Perry Central 71-55. The thing Letcher Central needs to work on is winning region games and district games. The Cougars currently are 8-5 against region opponents and 4-3 against district opponents.

5.Powell County (16-8):

The Pirates have fell on hard times as of late, having lost 3 straight games including a 48-46 defeat to district foe, Estill County. Powell County does have some good news anyways, as they’ve locked up the #1 seed for the 56th district tournament.

6.Estill County (16-6):

The Engineers are on pace to win 20 games this season, for the first time in a long long time, maybe a first time in school history. Estill County has won 4 straight and 7 of their last 9 games. Estill County should win at least 6 of their remaining 7 games, may win out.

7.Buckhorn (15-12):

Buckhorn has struggled lately, losing 4 straight and 5 of their previous 7 games before putting up a 2 game win streak against both district foes, Leslie County and Hazard. The bad thing is, the Wildcats await both Knott Central and Cordia this week…

8.Hazard (10-11):

The Bulldogs are struggling as of late, losing 3 of their last 4 games. The big stat of this team is, they’re 0-4 against district opponents, that’s not a good stat line especially with district tournaments starting here in two weeks.

9.Breathitt County (14-11):

Breathitt County thought to have gotten things turned around after hitting a hard spot during the middle of the season but have lost 2 straight after having previously won 4 straight. The Bobcats got thumped by South Laurel 74-56 but took 15th region powerhouse Johnson Central to the limit before eventually falling to the Golden Eagles 81-77.

10.Wolfe County (12-12):

Wolfe County still continues to struggle, although they are on a 2 game win streak and have won 3 of their last 5 games, they have lost 5 of their last 8 games. Wolfe County will have 3 games this week, Paintsville, Sayre and Estill County.

11. Leslie County (16-7):

Leslie County seemed to have things going in the right direction but have slipped and fell down lately, losing 3 of their last 4 games. The Eagles have a tough schedule to finish out the season with Clay County, Knox Central, Letcher Central and district foe, Hazard all on it.

12.Jackson City (7-18):

Jackson City has had a rough season and it hasn’t gotten any better having lost 3 straight and 7 of their last 8 games.

13.Owsley County (4-19):

The young Owls started the season off on the worst way anyone could but have since seem to have gotten things turned a slit bit better, having won 2 of their last 3 games.

14.Lee County (7-17):

The Bobcats picked up two wins last week, snapping their 7 game losing streak.

15.June Buchanan (3-20):

The Crusaders have lost 3 straight and 5 of their last 6 ball games.

16.Jenkins (2-20):

The Cavaliers defeated Rose Hill Christian 70-51 last Friday to snap their 9 game losing streak.

17.Riverside Christian (3-21):

Since their win over KSFTD back on Jan. 17th, the Rams have lost 7 straight.
