Ram
Larkey out at Harlan County BAXTER, Ky. (WYMT) -- After 43 years of coaching – 34 as a head coach – Tom Larkey is out as the Harlan County head football coach. “The new principal said, ‘It’s nothing against you, we just need to make a change’,” Larkey said. Larkey said he talked with his team today (Tuesday) and the players told him, ‘Coach, we love you.’ He will still serve as the district-wide athletic director until June. Link After 34 years as a head coach, Harlan County wants to go in a different direction. Wonder what direction that is, a brand new coach? A coach with less experience? The principal said, "it's nothing about you" to Coach Larkey, but how can a person be removed from a job and it know be about that person? The most surprising part for me is, Coach Larkey "will still serve as the district-wide athletic director until June". He will be involved in the hiring of his replacement after he was released from his position. How does that work? And, if they don't plan on letting him be involved in the hiring process, why allow him to remain in the position until June?
