Right now, no. I've seen him play multiple times and as I said, while he's good, he doesn't stand out as being heads and shoulders above. He has a year or two to progress though which is in his favor and if he does than it's possible, but as of right now there is no way. I had heard all of this about how great he was and how he is a high draft prospect before I saw him last year, and then I watched a lot and it was a let down because all I saw was a good baseball player playing on a good baseball team. Too many errors to even be considered top 25 team caliber player just yet. As someone said though, lucky for him, me and many others who have seen him are not scouts.

I understood that. And I stick by what I said. I don't think he is a top 25 caliber player. I watch a lot of baseball up here, and he has never stood out to me when I've watched him. He is a better player on his team, and one of the good ones in NKY, but not exceptional. Not by any means. He has a year or so to improve, as he is only a junior which is great. But top 25 caliber players do not make errors on routine balls continuously, and I've seen games where he had multiple. He looks like he could play at a DII school, maybe a small D1 with the right fit, which is just great imo.

I would have to agree with whoever said Jones isn't a top 25 caliber kid yet. I mean if he is only a junior he has a year or two to progress and improve, but I just don't see it. I don't want to say it is his name that is going to get him places, but I think if people are saying top 25's are looking at him than it is def. helping his case. He isn't above and beyond others I've seen, and he isn't any worse. Just looks like a kid playing HS ball who could play at a low D1 or high dII program at this point. Which is fine!

I don't think anyone said the pitching staff is very deep at this point. IMO they have Isler, Nute, and Krumme and then Shumate is developing pretty well, but there is a big drop off. Regardless, Krumpelbeck is the coach and he made the decision, and he thought it would be beneficial for Isler to throw against "one of the better hitting teams in the region", and it worked. I talked to Isler yesterday and I assure you his arm is doing just fine. I think it could have been good to get a less experienced pitcher some innings verse Ryle, but with the weather forecast of rain and snow, Krumps probably knew they wouldn't be playing this week and wanted his starter to get the innings.

Isler, his coach, and his parents all know when his arm is at it's limit. His elbow after Tommy John feels the best it has ever felt, it's a matter of him getting the innings and pitching 5 or 6 innings as opposed to the 3 or 4 he was allowed when he was recovering. He will not ruin his arm.

Nutini was supposed to pitch but had been sick. I think Isler pitching was merely to get him more innings, and build up his stamina on the mound. It was good for him to go a full six innings despite his arm being tired and worn down, because it will help him out in the games that do matter. Krumme, Gerwe, Darner, even Nute if he felt up to it COULD have pitched.

Anyone putting CovCath at number 3 is a seriously optimistic person lol. I see another rough season in their future. But I like what the coach is doing. It's safe to say Highlands will be number 1 and after that, I'm just not too sure.

My take on this is that it is a very positive sign for Cov Cath when Isler doesn't have his best stuff and still throws harder than most NKY pitchers and keeps good teams to 2 runs.:thumb:

I have heard that he doesn't play with them, but that his family member is the coach of the team that the Holmes guys play on. If indeed he does transfer, than all the whining from Holmes fans about Scott Co.'s transfers look kind of ridiculous.

I can't remember what Meier did at the plate today, but I do remember thinking he definitely looked like a hitter lol. And I do agree, CovCath's pitching did not hold Ryle down today. I think it did it's job fairly well though. I don't know if Ryle's hitting was good or not for them, I don't follow the team very closely. I think they hit well on the hits they did get off Isler, who is a top pitcher in NKY regardless of if he had an off day or not. I just think CovCath should have been able to do more against the first pitcher today, the bats just aren't there yet. We can go in circles about this all night, and it could be that I'm not making myself clear, but at this point I'm far too tired to try to clear things up. Off to bed and hoping for some good baseball weather this week..

I'm not familiar with Ryle's hitters. I am just familiar with CovCath's, and know what they are capable of and obviously they are not to that level yet. As you said, Isler is hitting it, but the rest of our "potent" lineup is not doing too overwhelmingly great. I have been impressed with Darner though, he just didn't have it today is all. But on the same token, Etschied is Ryle's best player right? He had a very nice hit today. All I am saying is that both teams bats are SURE to pick up. I'm just of the opinion that CovCath's pick up will be more productive and noticable than Ryle's. I could be wrong, it's early yet.

No offense, but they didn't hold CovCath down. CovCath's bats will pick up, as will Ryle's I'm sure. And Isler just pitched on Wednesday, his arm was not anywhere near what it typically is. He told people on the side after the game he just didn't have much in his tank today.

Which is my point. They are not playing anywhere near where they can and will, and are still beating very solid teams. I think they'll be tested more verse Conner this week. And I believe that when CovCath's bats wake up, they will be stronger than when Ryle's bats wake up. That was my point. I think Ryle has a nice ball team this year and I enjoy watching them. I just feel the better team won, and will show why they are the clear better team by the end of the season. [Or I hope].

I think as the season goes, people will see that CovCath really is farther ahead talent wise than the other teams. I don't think they are playing anywhere near where they can and will, and are still 5-0 vs some solid teams. The bats will pick up. Still think there are some glitches in the lineup that need to be fixed, especially at the plate. You can't have for sure outs coming up to the plate. And for a batter or two right now, it is a for sure out for the other team.. Pitching is definitely going to be the strength, as will the hitting once it gets going. If Shumate can come in and give a solid inning or two in relief like he has, that adds a lot to the pitching. Isler obviously did not have his best stuff today after just pitching Wednesday, but still managed to strike out 7 and keep a good Ryle lineup to 2 runs. Not bad at all. I was also impressed with Siemers slide ha! I'd have to disagree though, I think Ice's shot to center for his HR was hit pretty solid. The one to left just flat out died but was well hit too. I see some signs of life in the bats..keep it coming!

I'm not too sure if you're being sarcastic, but I don't plan on telling anyone anything that they should be able to figure out themselves.

In every game but one that has been played in the past two seasons, CovCath has dominated NCC. Credit to NCC for taking the game that mattered, but CovCath is just better. And that's okay. I think it's safe to say that CovCath could have gutted out a run or two regardless of who was pitching for NCC, because either way, NCC still had very little, to no opportunity to score in this one.

I hope CovCath brings their best hitting and their best pitching to this game and makes a statement. CovCath's hitting needs to pick it up, and if it does, I see them winning convincingly.

Yeah I think it's a bit early to say they look like they might become the team to beat. Until the beat CovCath, which is possible if CovCath doesn't start hitting it, I wouldn't jump the gun. IF they do then i'd be willing to say the region will be tough between CovCath, Conner, and NCC.

I'm far more impressed with Head. But I also think it looks good for CovCath. If they still win with their three top hitters not hitting close to what we know their capable of, then when they DO start to hit...

Good win for Conner! Can't wait to see them play Covcath this weekend!

There are only a couple things to really say. The first is, it might be getting time to look at other options for Holocher as a hitter. Move him down, DH for him, something of that sort. Eggemeier AND Lafever should be ahead of him. The second is Nutini pitched really well, and with him and Isler pitching, Covcath has to be confident, but it helps your pitchers none if you can't hit the ball and really CovCath still isn't hitting very well. It's time to pick it up. Third, why steal Maile with Darner and Isler coming up. Just not smart...let them get you around, they are good enough hitters to do so. That's twice Maile has gotten thrown out in three games, so why not let your strongest hitters move the runner. Also, great to see Lafever produce in that pressure situation!
