If their middle school team keeps whipping up on your middle school team, as they have the last two years, it shouldn't be too long. The key would be, will you actually schedule them? They will be a Class A team and you don't compete well against Class A teams. Or will you dodge them as your middle school attempts to do each year? Rose Hill may never field a high school varsity team. Time, numbers, and money will determine that. However, they have made a rather significant point in regard to middle school football within the Ashland city limits the last two years.

I'll bet that Beach is both humbled and thrilled to be included on this list. I can't believe he actually got a vote.

I agree. I suspect that most all transfers of decent athletes are for athletic reasons. However, that is in violation of KHSAA rules. Therefore, due to the obvious, KHSAA should either "rework" that rule or enforce it in all such cases.

Your post would suggest that the transfers, even with family "relocations", were for athletic reasons and, if so, that is clearly a violation of the rules of KHSAA.

I did a little checking with acquaintances in Greenup County and I think you are correct. From time to time through the years, Greenup County has proved to be a fruitful feeder system for Ashland.

Robbie was injured most all of last season and it slowed his development. However, he has a lot of potential and, if he can remain healthy, he will be a big contributor for the next four years. He, like Malloy, is a fine young man and, as Zoolander has stated, he can fill up the basket from long range.

Alex Malloy of Rose Hill. Although having some health problems, he started most every game last year. He is now healthy and should make a big difference.

I believe that Gullett scored over 70 points in a football game against Wurtland.

The level of talent, according to most, is on the decline. Therefore, I suppose Ashland, for short term success, needs some "transfers" or foreign exchangers.

Indeed so. That is why I was suggesting that he would fare much better staying at Fairview. Ashland was merely used as a comparison to illustrate why that is the case. By the way, the independent sources that I find (not fine) are informed individuals from several schools in your area. No homers.

From all information I have heard, Ashland has less than a bumper crop of talent coming up. And, with the perceived politics in Ashland, Jackson would appear to be better off staying at Fairview. Independent observers say that Ashland has no one of the potential of Hall and Collins coming up through the system.

Most of these ratings seem to be based upon personal allegiences with a measureable dose of prejudice more that on any real standard of measure. I believe that the coaching ability, or lack thereof, of some of these coaches will be better revealed in the next year or so. The region has lost all of its big names so some of the coaches tauted above will have to use a little more brain power and creativity.

You make a good argument for Frank Lee. He is too often overlooked.

He was first team all-state as an 8th grader and second team all-state as a seventh grader. Have any other 16th Region players done this in their junior and senior years? There have been several who went from honorable mention as juniors to first or second team all state as seniors but I am not aware of any who matched Mayo's middle school achievement. Of course, I could be wrong and that is why I am asking.
