I think it is Ballard Memorial not Louisville Ballard in this tournament. Ballard Memorial is a Class A school from far west KY on the Ohio River meets the Mississippi

They play the winner of the 5th Region at the 5th Region school. They are having their tournament this coming weekend.

Section 13 I of the tournament rules for Fast pitch softball says, if a game is interrupted in tournament play or in regular season play and is subsequently to be completed it will be rest at the same point, same ininning, same out or outs, same balls and strikes, same batter or number of batter in the batting order. In the NFHS Rule softball book 4-2-4 says if a game is called before completion of the number of innings (4.5 or 5) and conditions as specificed in 4-2-2, the umpire shall declare the contest "no game" unless play is terminated by 4-2-3.

Carroll County did have the pitching and that is why they won. Three games in the tournament for Carroll County. Two complete games, a 3 hitter, a two hitter and a 1 hitter in the championship game. Carroll County gave up 5 runs in those 3 games, only one was earned and their offense put up 29 runs on the board. Way to go Panthers! :dancingpa

Congratulations to the Panthers for a job well done. They had the most depth in pitching for the tournament.

No official stats but Jesse Proctor pitched well, gave up a run in the 7th but buckled down and stuck out the last two batters. I thought I heard them say he had thrown only 35 pitches through 4 innings. Aaron Law for Trimble County pitched well with their defense throwing the ball around again. The home run was earned but I think the other runs he gave up were probably unearned. Carroll County made the best of their opportunities. Playing only one game a week right now because of the weather makes me think they are trying too hard to make something happen.

The 8th Region Class A Tournament starts tomorrow (weather permitting). Is there a favorite this year or is it like the basketball tournaments - wide open...

The Panthers have some clutch hits and put a few runs on the board. Played excellent defense again only one error in the field.

Scrimmages are 3 hours from the first pitch.

The girls state tournament is before the boys again this year so they play first. Their semis and finals are Friday and Saturday.

Bowlin sat on the bench last night but wasn't dressed to play. Looked like he was moving OK, no crutches or anything like that.

This was their 3rd game in 4 days and while this game wasn't extremely physical the two previous games were very physical. Carroll isn't very deep and with 5 subs available, 4 were playing their 9th game in 8 days, the legs gave out. South Oldham shoots a lot of threes, made 13 last night (over 1/2 their points), and when they hit them South will be a tough out in the tournament. Second most points Carroll has given up this year, highest amount was a double overtime game. Noticed that maybe two schools were there to watch Kramer (sp) play...
