I was not at the game so Im going on second hand info. The game was very physical and I think Heritage jumped out in the last half of the second quarter to take a 20 point lead into halftime. Kenny Boyton had 23 points in the game. Elijah Justice for Valley only put up 3 shot attempts. He still has a lot of soreness in his shooting shoulder from an injury last weekend. Valley is very inconsistent and streaky without him as he is their best player at both ends of the floor. I thought they might should sit him this week rather than try to play against great competition at way less than a 100 percent. But I guess he wanted to try to play so they are letting him play limited minutes. Hopefully he will be at a 100 percent by the All A.

Hey guys glad to see Shelby Valley break into the top 10. And I think that they are legit this year. If they win next weekend in the Laurel tourney and then play well in Florida against Top Flite competition maybe they can move on up. Just glad to see my mountain team get a little love. To all ELLIOT FANS being in the top five with those other four teams is nothing to sneeze at you have a great team but they are not unbeatable. Enjoy this ride these kids are giving you before it ends.

Watched Knott last weekend at the Expo center and they are a good team. I would think they can give Hazard a run for their money.

Good win for EC. Elliot and Shelby Valley are in similiar situations. They play in bad Regions and after the holiday tourneys they are going beat a lot of people bad. I would love to see them play in the All A. Again 132 points is impressive.

Walton jumped out to an early lead. Valley gathered their composure and came back. Once Valley got up about 15 Rice layed down and quit except a couple highlight dunks. SV plays great team basketball. Elijah Justice is a heck of a player.

SV played well as a team. The eight players that make up their main rotation all scored in the first quarter as they were spreading the ball around. Justice dominated the game on both ends of the floor. Ashland had some good 3 point shooters but Valley had them from the start. Nothing to get real excited about we will find out more about Valley this weekend against Henry Clay and Walton GA.

Slone is a good shooter and could be used at some point as a Cameron Mills spot up shooter type guy. I stated about a month ago that this would happen. This kid is going to go down work his tail off and have the time of his life and I bet you never hear of any problems out of him. Honestly if CBC recruits the type players he wants it will be hard for Slone to get any significant playing time....but coach has proven he will reward players for hard work. This is coming from a big Shelby Valley fan and I'm glad he made it to the state tourney and finished off this deal with his performance. Good Luck Landon and go make us mountain guys proud. :thumb:

Good win for the Tigers way to represent the 15th. I have said all along that if UK is looking for a Ky boy to walk on it should be Slone not Stepp and others mentioned I guess 35 tonight backs up that point.

Did anyone on hear see the Jtown/Shelby Valley game earlier in the year? I know it was a very tight game on J-Town home floor. Painstville came out hot and went up 20 on Valley and Valleys press really gave them problems. Valley ended up taking the lead and then getting beat in Double overtime. I would imagine J-town is quick and likes to play all over the floor. Painstville can only play 6 guys literally but those six are pretty good. I say JT by 12 when it is all said and done.

I honestly cannot think of one reason to ever take it back to a high school gym. 5400 in there tonight and everyone was comfortable.

Shelby Valley played a terrible first quarter and found themselves down 20. They clawed back with their defense and took the lead. Grimm hit a shot to tie the game at the buzzer to put it into overtime for Painstville. In one of the biggest coaching blunders I have ever seen with Painstville with four guys on the floor with 4 fouls Valley stood at half court and dribbled out I guess at least 6 minutes of the 8 minutes of overtime. Also Valley was 13 of 24 from the charity strip in regulation. All that being said Painstville played and coached their guts out and Grimm dominated down low. I congratulate Painstville seniors because they had a lot of pressure on them to win a regional title and I think they will tomorrow night. Also the future is bright the next two seasons for Valley to make run to Rupp. I guess their was 5,000 people in the Expo Center tonight and it was a great night to be a basketball fan. Also to watch the two teams shake hands at the end was very cool. You could tell both teams had used all the gas in their tanks and had a lot of respect for each other.

I would rather have Slone from Painstville. If BCG offered Stepp a scholarship he would instantly lose his stud rectruiter status. Cox and Collins are both very solid players who so far have gotten sacrificed so Stepp could get his 26 a game.

Rumors I hear in the 15th region are Morehead, Marshall, Georgtown, EKU and maybe a couple more have all offered scholarships. If he decides to go the walk on route I have heard Lousiville, Arkansas, and UK. John Pelphrey may be using his connections with these schools to help Landon out. I think he would love to be at UK like a lot of Kentucky kids. Landon is very good player and has shown this outside of the mountain area which to me is important. In my opinion he is much better than any walk on UK has on its roster now. He has the body, the IQ and the shot to possibly be someone like Cameron Mills if a college coach wanted to use him that way. I have read that UK has invited Clark Stepp from June Buchanan to a game and a possible walk on spot. I have watched both play throughout their high school careers and I would much rather have Landon. To me he is a much better and fundamentally sound player and has much better attitude. Stepp has been pampered by family coaches and his numbers have been padded at the expense of his teammates. Landon has been pushed hard by Bill Mike Runyon which will help him in college.

Shelby Valley or Painstville should be there in the 20 to 25 range. Elliot County should be there with them. The top 4 look good in any order. IMO

SV has been in a little slump this was going to happen sooner or later.

These EC threads are priceless. EC is very good but if you read some of my old post I have always said this team will never live up to its fans expectations. You guys accept the fact that you are a top 20 team in the state in the 11 to 16 range IMO. EC blew out a lot of lesser opponents and now have been beat by Rose Hill and taken to the wire by East Carter. The 16th region is not a gimme like you thought but that is O.K. This has to be the most over-hyped team I have ever seen.

Shelby Valley was as high as 11th. They won a couple of games by only ten points or so and have fallen all the way out of the top 25 without losing.

That is about right for the 15th. You have Shelby Valley and Painstville who are good and can make some noise with teams outside the 15th. After those two there is an extreme drop off. Example is Pikeville who most consider the 3rd best team just got beat 30 something by June Buchanan.

Shelby Valley beat Male in Pikeville and I'm sure Male may have been overlooking them some. Im more impressed by Valley taking J-Town to the wire on their home floor. I think it is hard to put a mountain team into the top 10 because the city competition is so much better. Shelby Valley maybe could be a few spots higher....looks pretty good though.:thumb:
