Did I hear that Clark STepp is going to UK? Walk on or Scholarship

It would be a mistake. He is a good HS player, but not major D1 material.

He will only sit the bench his entire career if he does make it as a walk on at UK.

He should go to a smaller college where he can get to play.

Marky Krebs (current walk on) is a very similar player and 3 inches taller. I don't see Stepp seeing the court before Krebs.

Matt Jones is reporting on his blog.....

June Buchanan star Clark Stepp will be visiting for the UK-Florida game on Sunday. Coach Cox is calling him regularly and there is a lot of interest in having him join the team….he doesn't have a scholarship offer yet, but apparently is of high interest to the UK staff.

Cats have won with backwoods Ky boys before. I would love to have one of our own in the mix at UK, but I just dont see his game translating to the big-time game. But wherever he goes, best of luck. He had a marvelous career in H.S..

Clark would make a good one to walk on at UK, I think if everyone would get over their jealousy and really take an unbiased look at this kids talents, they would really see a great kid and great ball player. Yes maybe he shot a little too much for his team, but when you are being pushed to do that by parents and coaches, it happens. I think if he would of been on a team where there wasn't other intensions going on, he would of been an even better looking player to everyone. The kid can play and when you surround him with better talented players he will shine even more. Yes Cox is a great player, but no one else on that team will ever do anything else after high school. Unless a deal is made to get Clint on a team where he can shoot the 3 ball.

I disagree. The Collins kid is very capable of playing in college at any number of Kentucky's smaller schools.

If Stepp can get on the team (walk-on or scholarship), great. Alot of KY kids would just be happy to be on the team no matter how many minutes of play they may see. It's a big time program in a great conference. It would be a wonderful experience to tell his kids and grand-kids about. Most kids don't get this opportunity. Best of luck.

Wouldn't go as far as saying "ANY NUMBER" maybe 1, Alice Lloyd. Collins is big, but misses way to many easy shots under the basket and is pretty slow for his size. Even small college players would eat him up.

I would rather have Slone from Painstville. If BCG offered Stepp a scholarship he would instantly lose his stud rectruiter status. Cox and Collins are both very solid players who so far have gotten sacrificed so Stepp could get his 26 a game.

No way that Stepp gets a scholarship offer from UK ... strictly walk-on material.

LOOK EVERYONE!!!!!!!!Clark Stepp can play college ball but NOT D-1...... He needs to go to Pikeville, Cumberland, or some good NAIA school. He could start maybe 2 or 3 years at a good NAIA school.

There are NO PLAYERS in the 14th or 15th Regions that can play in the SEC......sorry!!!!

Agreed.

What's wrong with having a dream and following it? I can't believe that people are bashing this kid for following his. He's 17 years old and has a chance to do what none of us did, walk-on at UK, or try out to walk-on. Either way, that takes guts. I wish him the best.
